whatme
Ok so heres the deal. On the scandanavian car tunning site, on the pdf file that is the performance parts for the 850's it says that their stage 3 kit will bring 315 horsepower out of a t5-r. Basicaly the package just includes new software for the ecu, a sport air filter, their 2.5" stainless exhaust with 3.5" endpipe, a 3" down pipe and a race cat. Beyond that it only has a spark plug kit that comes with it. I mean thats alot of engine mods but not nearly enough to pull out 315 right? Anyone have rough ideas what this could help a t5-r put out? Thanks.
Hagan
I think most companies' quotes are exadurated by maybe up to 25-30% when it comes to wheel horsepower.
BlackT5
New rods, pistons, big ball bearing turbo, tubular manifold, 3" exhaust, external wastegate, new intercooler, piggyback or stand alone ems. What is your HP goal? and we can tell you what you need to do to get there. Basically the stock bottom end is only good to just over 300whp.
Texas850Turbo
I'd say that would give bout 290-300 bhp...ECU + 30/40,Intake/ Exhaust + 15Spark Plugs + 2-3So yeah, they're definitely on the high end.
whatme
i was looking for something around like 290-330. Anywhere in there is fine but i dont really have a fortune to spend. I can probably spare 2 or 3 grand so my goal seems pretty far off. Im thinking about saving up and putting in a new engine and tranny but that can get real expensive. Just thinking of the future, what kind of options would you have for an engine swap for a t5-r? thanks
Nebor
I think that kit would make a world of difference to your car. It'd be fast enough for most.

Shoot, if you want power do this...buy used 19T-600-800 bucksRICA tuned ECU- 800 bucksCustom down pipe by Jesse-350-450???3inch exhaust/magnaflow muffler-150 bucksthat would net you 300bhp easy, probably get 350 with a FMIC, h20 injection and some other things... just my .
whatme
yah thats why i was looking at it. It would be around 1800 or 1900 which isnt to bad considering how many different components are in it. If it could pull out a good 290 or 300 i would be more than happy, though i might have to go easy on my poor tranny. lol. im afraid with that much i would tear up my automatic in a matter of months and replacing that could be very pricyis a 19t really that much better than the stock turbo though?top part refering to the kit of course

Just thinking of the future, what kind of options would you have for an engine swap for a t5-r? thanksIf you wanted to take your time, you could buy a used T5 motor off ebay? for cheap and slowly build it up. The just swap it. you still need a new turbo to make the power and if you want big power, you'll want a manual trans. If your goal is only 300bhp, then get an intake (or k&n panel filter), chip and full 3" exhaust. Look at the JT 3" turbo back exhausts. You could even throw a new IC in there to help cool the intake charge.

Yes the 19T is a good bit more efficient then the 15g. the 15g flows like 350cfm and the 19T like 500cfm (i dont know the exact numbers so somebody correct me) which means this... 19 psi at the 15g is way out of its efficiency range which means it will do nothing more then blow hot air into your motor, meaning that it would actually make more power in the 15psi range. a 19T at 19psi is right in its effective range and you would be blowing cooler air, thus a good bit more power. 15 g is maybe good for 260whp, the 19T 300whp or maybe a tad more with perfect tuning. whatme
yah, what would a good manual cost for an 850?wait, when you refer to a 19t being good for 300 hp do you mean if you just replaced the old one with it and tuned it? no other mods? Geevs
Beyond that it only has a spark plug kit that comes with it.What's so special about this spark plug? The website doesn't indicate the brand but it says silver center electrode.

BlackT5
Here is some info on the different mitsu turbos. http://web.telia.com/~u58304000/turbo3/mit.../mitsubishi.htmThe 19T at 19psi is out of it's efficiency range too. These turbos are just too small. Increasing the boost on such small turbos creates excessive heat from both compressor inefficiency and backpressure from the turbine. whatme
what is the biggest of those turbos that you can fit to replace the 15 g without massive modifications?
