i shouldnt be surprised for the lack of engine bay illumination, heck i don't even have adjustable intermittent wipers on my $35k car. /rant

has anyone fabricated a professional lighting solution? not neon strobes or anything, just something, preferably LED, that illuminates the full monty and is triggered by the opening of the hood.

The 740's had a light under the hood. It's not a whole lot of light, but its triggered by opening the hood via a switch. It probably would be relatively easy to hook one up.

methinks i am going to learn myself how to do some basic electronics and wiring. what better excuse do i need to edumicate myself.

do some adjustable-angle halogens...I'm thinking kinda like undercabinet lighting. This way they can be angled depending on whether the hood is open to the ~60 degree angle or all the way up at 90 degrees.

I'm no electronics/wiring expert, but I bet some in-home lighting product could be made to work.

The 740 lights under the hood had a mercury switch in them, hence getting not having them anymore. Just thought I would let you know!

i had a 740, the lighting was a nice addition. if it's first time 'electricity' don't forget to edumicate yerself on fuses!

People with cars costing that price and higher tend to have someone else working on them. :)

Is this just to be able to work on the car, or do you want to display it at night?

Guys something you could always do is wire your under hood light to your parking lights or to your fog lights (of course if you have them) and have them set to work independently of the headlights courtesy of the Euro fog light mod. The only time this wouldn't work would be if you have the battery disconnected when you would ultimately be using a shoplight (hopefully) anyways. Also good for if you are on the side of the road as that of you have your parking lights on. :)
