gr8gatzby
i shouldnt be surprised for the lack of engine bay illumination, heck i don't even have adjustable intermittent wipers on my $35k car. /ranthas anyone fabricated a professional lighting solution? not neon strobes or anything, just something, preferably LED, that illuminates the full monty and is triggered by the opening of the hood. PullMyFinger
I think candle light is more complimentary if you're going for the full monty. But I do agree, built in LED underhood lighting would be nice.

the underlørd
I pull the car in my 30K square foot shop. it's heated! but seriously. I've had luck with drop lights.
AGBullit235
The 740's had a light under the hood. It's not a whole lot of light, but its triggered by opening the hood via a switch. It probably would be relatively easy to hook one up.-Alex

Gregg
do some adjustable-angle halogens...I'm thinking kinda like undercabinet lighting. This way they can be angled depending on whether the hood is open to the ~60 degree angle or all the way up at 90 degrees.I'm no electronics/wiring expert, but I bet some in-home lighting product could be made to work. dancetheman
some light under the hood would be nicer than a flashlight duct taped to my shoulder haha

Is this just to be able to work on the car, or do you want to display it at night?
exexpat
A fused hood pin connected to a constant and light would be a 15 minute project.
spottieottie
Guys something you could always do is wire your under hood light to your parking lights or to your fog lights (of course if you have them) and have them set to work independently of the headlights courtesy of the Euro fog light mod. The only time this wouldn't work would be if you have the battery disconnected when you would ultimately be using a shoplight (hopefully) anyways. Also good for if you are on the side of the road as that of you have your parking lights on. :)
