Bob709
 Has any one else had a problem with their HU-611 stereo display? Mine has gone crazy with all kinds of erratic displays, but everything else works right. Anyone know a good repair specialist or can give me a hint on how to remove the radio from a 99 S80? Also are there any good substitute radios that will work in the S80? Thanks in advance
Mesoam
this isn't volvo related but a similar situation. My freinds Acura Legend had a very similar problem with the display apparently the previous owner had spilled something on the HU because you could see the liquid residue once they pulled the HU. Your best bet would probobly be aftermarket or ebay.
junibunie
There's this guy named Phillip in volvospy that knows a lot about s80 radios and he can give you directions on how to remove the HU. Try to post something there.

Guest Tech - Soundlinx
The S80 Head Units are held in by 2 torx screws at the bottom. The climate panel is then clipped onto this and is then also held in by 2 torx screws at the bottom. The panel covering these should just be clipped in, therefore,Unclip panel below climate controls,Remove 2 torx screws,Pull climate control unit forward to unclip from head unit,(CLIPS BREAK VERY EASILY!!!)Remove 2 torx screws,Remove head unit.BE WARNED....Volvos quite often trigger the airbag light to show a fault has been detected, this can happen when the radio is removed. To avoid this:Remove keys from ignition and only disconnect plugs after 3 minutes have passed and the vehicle is in 'sleep' mode.Do not switch ignition back on whilst any plugs are still disconnected. If the head unit is to be left out Volvo will need to remove it from the vehicles programming to avoid this happening.
