pfeener
This seems really basic, but the other day I was trying to remove the air filter box from my 98 S70 and the hose from the air filter box just didn't want to come off. The hose was loose and would spin on the collar but it was so stiff it wouldn't come off. Any trick to get it off. I was thinking about a heat gun to soften the hose material. Guest AlvinL
No, Kevin. I think he's talking about the hard plastic intake hose from the filter to the turbo. What I would do is to leave the filter cover still clipped on, loosen the clamp with a socket, grasp the filter with one hand and with the other hand twist while pushing to get it off. Watch the knuckle when it does come off. Ouch! Bite me once, not again.
pfeener
Thanks AlvinL, I've tried what you suggested, but was afraid to put that much pressure on the parts. The hose doesn't even seem like rubber; feels like more of a hard plastic. I was just wondering if anyone has any good methods for getting it off gracefully. i.e. such as warming it up a little. Try removing it after you've been on a drive. I've taken the MAF off of that tube, and ya just sorta have to get mad at it!
