Overboost, Fuel Cut

On my 94 850T,

I am having an overboosting condition, only avaible boost guage is the factory "moving idiot light", which very quickly finds its way to the edge of the white any time a significant amount of throttle is applied. I regulate the throttle to keep the boost down and out of danger, but if I do allow it to go uncurbed, the motor essentaly shuts off (feels alot like a fuel cut) and the only evidence left over is a 414 code.

What I would like to know is, if there are any common areas to look at as far as a vacuum leak (Although it dose not seem quite like a vac leak though, off boost power is good, and idel quality is perfect). Only time I can hear anything odd is on a cold start up, in which the engine makes what basicly sounds like a quite moan that quickly dissapears about a minute after startup, I always atributed this to noise caused by a heating system in the intake being opened or something simmilar (Not sure if the turbo models recived a heating system like this)

I trust the Electronic BCS used on these engines is almost foolproof, and very very reliable, so thats proably not my issue, but is there anyway to check it anyway? Are their any other common things on these car's that cuase an issue on these cars? Also, What is the opening pressure on the wastegate? I would like to check for a leak when I get home from school.

Any insight would be appreciated, I'm about ready to order a manual boost control valve for it and call it a day

Thanks,

Kevin

if your wastegate hose is SHOT, huge cracks e/t/c it will overboost

by theway, no one has ever experinced fuel cut...

sounds maybe like you're experince spark blow out

No, stop with the spark blow out, please! Spark does not blow out. How can it? If you've got air flowing in to your cylinders at the point of spark plug firing, then you have major problems.

When the ECU detects an overboost situation, it retards the timing. I've experienced it. Most likely the hose that runs from the boost controller to the wastegate actuator has a major leak, so the BCS cannot open the wastegate when required.

check (and most like relace the hoses going to the turbo) make sure you get the one thats on the underside (easiest way I've found is to jack the car up and get at it from under the car.) My car is doing this right now because of these hoses. I replaced (and now I'm in the process of re-replacing) them with cheapies and theyre leaking and my car can't keep the boost under control it seems.
