Aftermarket Hu For Sc-900

Hi all,

I am about to put an aftermarket mp3 HU into the car... However, I don't know where I can connect the Amp, Sub, and CD connections that were on my SC-900.

The wiring harness and radio I know go together. But then I only have my front and rear preouts left on my aftermarket deck.

Would the sub go into the rear preout?

As for amp and cd, they are a big plug that I can visually see won't go anywhere on the aftermarket HU. Should I take apart those plugs/wire to reveal more wires and somehow hook it up that way?

I think the 900 uses an external amp so maybe I just have to cut off the plugs and I will see wires. I just want to make sure before I go doing something I cannot reverse...

As for the CD plug, I am clueless.

Hi

The large 6 pin 'DIN' (round) plug is for the amplifier. I have a diagram if useful, let me know by e-mail if you need it.

Sub on front or rear? Depends on the new head unit, there are 2 main differences

1) If the pre-outs non-fading. If they aren't for example, and you fade to the rear speakers and the sub is on the front output then the sub will go off. Check if either the front or rear has a non-fading setting.

2) If the new head unit has a built in low pass filter (LPF) on either the front or rear preout. If it does, use this and you'll get much better control of the sub.

The smaller 'Mini-DIN' plug is for the CD changer. This will only work with the original Volvo HU.
