billr99
To put some more exact info info this thread, I just measured the specs on my stock 854R and V70 rear springs. The R springs have a wire dia. of .47 in, a coil dia of 5 in, and look to have about 5.5 active coils. The V70 spring is exactly the same except for wire dia at .52 in. Throwing these numbers into my spring rate calculator, I come up with a rate of 131 lbs/in on the R rear spring and 203 lbs/in on the V70. This may not be exactly right as it shows an increase of about 55% stiffer rate on the wagon, but it would illustrate that a wgaon's rear rate is going to be much stiffer than a sedan rate.Cheers,

billr99
The R springs aren't Nivomat springs???Nope. Standard straight rates on the R, but now that I think about it, its not to say that my V70 may not have a heavy duty rear spring. I won't totally vouch for the accuracy of the rates even though I got my equation from Vanderburgh's (I think) auto suspension text; but the fact remains that the wire dia difference between my wagon and sedan springs is .05in which can be significant in rate. The equation also assumes that the metallurgy of the springs is similiar and that they are straight rates. If someone out there with a wagon could "mike" the dia. of their rear springs, that would be helpful. If mine are heavy duty, gee maybe I could put my R springs on my wagon!!
USMC850T
Come on; once you graduate from OCS you'll have the money to do it right anyway. Surely they are paying better than the $20K per year that they were 30 years ago. When I get out of OCS is when I pay off my student loans and start building my kit plane. http://vansaircraft.com/public/rv-6int.htmmmmmmm can't wait
Guest Sepherial
I got a couple questions about a 93 850 2.4L I5 20V. Is there anyway to adjust the Venturi System in the Intake manifold? And does bypassing the enging coolent sensor do any damage to the vehicle? For some reason after I start it the enging idle jumps from 1400-1900 rpms repeatedly and doesn't stop. I think I may have a problem with either the MAF sensor or the Idle Control Valve. Please Help
