CJ, I just talked to larry. I guess you left quite the impression on him last night ;)

Oh, he liked the ride I took him on eh? When are you going over there again? I may have to go over there tomorrow to pick up some Pegs.

I dont ussualy make it down in person, he ussualy ships. Just worked out that I was going to be in the area (ATP for the turbo) last week. Poor guy i know I've been driving him nuts but I can say he's the best parts guy I have ever dealt with bar none.

Super Nice CJ. Man that build looks like fun.

I have a thought.

Looking at your excellent pictures, it appears rather simple to drop the entire subframe to change the tranny.

I would love to change my tranny and get at some stuff on my engine to mod it but its really tight in the engine bay.

It looks like (to drop the subframe)

1. Axles out of spindle

2. A-Arms to spindle

3. Sway bar and steering linkage to spindle

4. Radiator, heater, tank, tranny, HVAC hoses come off.

5. Wiring harness connectors at certain key points

6. Trans linkage

7. Steering column to gear assembly

8. Downpipe

9. Misc grounds

That doesn't sound so bad when one wants to change a trans, replace a steering module, upgrade a turbo, and fix a PCV.

Now that I have done it this way I would never go back. It was so simple in so many respects. You can virtually build the entire setup outside of the car and then lift it up into the engine bay hook up the plumbing, wiring, axles, brakes and wheels and off you go. It sounds like a lot, but it goes very quickly.
