RAzOR
I would ask Oliver to cover the next day shipping.I'm not sure what happened to your old ECU but if you still have it, use it. Then send the other back to Oliver and get a refund. I wouldn't stand for this waiting around for him to sell it. Also, Oliver has been at this a while. He should know whether an ECU will work or not. This seems to be a clear ST screw up and he should make it right ASAP.FWIW, my Upsolute map wasn't any better or worse than my ST one or my SAM one. They're all about the same in my experience so price does matter.Bottom Line: ST should make it right as quickly as possible. That's how I treat my customers and that's how I expect them to treat me. Slater
FWIW: Earlier this year, Oliver helped me a lot with my ECU. He sent me out the socket and EEPROMS with instructions. I did a nice job but f'd it up when I soldered the socket into the wrong holes on the board. Removing the socket without destroying it destroyed my board instead. I sent the whole mess back to Oliver who fixed it for $100. Runs great now.I am surprised that this happened. I would call Oliver directly and explain the situation. He should take care of you. Though from the sounds of it, they screwed up this group buy pretty badly.IF Slater is correct (and I'm not sure he is) about the ECU's being the same, then Oliver should be able to FedEx you out a new EEPROM next day air. You can install it yourself, it's pretty easy and takes about 15-30 minutes (working slowly) for a newbie. I could do it in 5 minutes now using just a Torx driver and a flathead screwdriver.Good Luck. P.S. Hit up Oliver for a free stock map EEPROM. That way, if you ever need to run a stock map, you can pop it in. He charged me $3 for the extra EEPROM.Yes, I am. If you do a search you will see that EOBD has pointed this out many times.by the way, Oliver does NOT socket the ECU by default, he solders the chip directly to the board. You have to pay an extra $50 to have it socketed which is ridiculous in my book as it makes installation and uninstallation easier, and you do not rick damaging the PROM by soldering. A 28 and 32-pin soket runs about $0.50.I just called Oliver. He thought the US-spec ECU would work in my car without any problems because it worked on other T-5R's in the US . I explained to him that there are some differences like for example the EGR system which I don't have. He was surprised to know that. Anyway, he told me to ship the ECU back to him and he'll try to sell it to someone else. He said he wouldn't be able to score a E-spec ECU for my car and his software might not work with it. He also said when he put a 95 ECU on a 96 car, it threw the same codes I had (Does anyone know about that?).Conclusion: I'll have two options after he sells the ECU. Either get my money back or chipping an ECU from a 96 or 97 850 (non-EGR), but he's not sure if it will work 100% right A 96-97 ECU will not work. NO US ECU will work because non-US cars do not have rear O2 sensors either. Yes, the 96-97 does not have EGR but it DOES have a rear O2. You need a REAL Euro spec chip, because no Euro spec car has an EGR or rear O2 - that is US emmissions BS.So bottom line is if you get a 96-97 non-EGR US spec chip, you will still throw codes. RAzOR
Bottom Line: Oliver needs to fix it and fast.Slater: Oliver told me that the socket is neccessary because of either to protect their maps from being duplicated and/or to talk properly to the board, the socket is neccessary to "decryp" the EEPROM. Without the socket, the EEPROM will not work.NOW, he could be completely sh!tting me. It does make business sense to use a dcryp socket to protect from such an easy thing as duplicating EEPROM data which does indeed cost just a few bucks. I suspect Oliver has a point with the socket because if one could simply duplicate maps with an EEPROM programmer, I think dirt cheap, do-it-yourself remapping it would be much more rampant that I have seen.I have reached the limit of my knowledge on the ECU mapping. Trunks850R
I'm sure Rica would be better than Upsolute or Speedtuning. Hell, i've been waiting for 6 weeks for a response from Upsolute about a possible remap. I think they simply forgot about me.Another one of the reasons i'm going to an EMS.oh yeah, thats funny, i sent rene w/ upsolute a email about getting a remap. no reply. then a week later sent him a email about getting a friend of mines honda done and BOOM, 2 hours later he emails me back with a price and everything i needed to know.

JHEIII874T5M
Rene at upsolute is usually pretty responsive, but lately he has been slacking. I suggest you go on upsolute's site and find your local representative. They will handle you right. My guy is always able to turn around cars in 1 night. :)
