biged30
Earlier this week it got cold out here and the steering began to sqeak really loud and the wheel turned. I simply thought that a control arm or somethign needed to be greased. Over time the sqeak went away but so did the power steering. Basically it takes both hands pulling really hard to turn the car now. Looks like the power steering fluid leaked out as well. The reservoir is empty. Anyone have a similar problem and what steps can I take? More than likely it looks like I'll have to take it into a shop. We dont have any Volvo specilists. There is one european specialist as he advertises.

biged30
Lawton, OK. There is a dealership in Oklahoma City which is a quick 50 min drive. However I would like to avoid dealer prices. FCP Groton the solution? Should I simply order the part and take to a mechanic here in town?

FCP Groton the solution? Should I simply order the part and take to a mechanic here in town?Ed,If you decide to do this yourself, great. If not, when I lived in Midwest City I originally used the dealer until it got to painful (re: $$$$). There is an Indy place in Edmund that specialized in Volvos you could check out. They did some work on my 740 that I didn't want to do myself and were significantly cheaper than the dealer. I believe they were called Swedish Imports, but right now I can't recall the exact name. I found out about them from a guy I met when deployed to the mid-east.Regards,
biged30
yeah still need to take care of it. Right now I can steer fine, but it takes two hands on the wheel on certain turns. Got a number to the place? Where are you at in OK?
KLS
Ed,Take a good look from above and from below. What do you see? Clean things up, refill with fluid, and where do you see the leak? Don't run the system dry...you'll ruin parts that might still be OK.Ken
