Volvo Virgin
I'm looking to upgrade my radio from the 816 to the 900.This sc900 that I'm considering is the 13 speaker dolby prologic system with the center speaker in the dash.As far as I understand, all the 900 series radios were externally amped with the seperate 400w amp component. Is the dolby prologic processor also a seperate component,or is it integrated into the h/u or the amp? Thanks for the help,Rob

(which is also crummy) I had my 901 for about 2 weeks, and since it didn't play burned CD's.. i tossed it. as for the sound quality - i had JL amps running all of my door speakers, so yea it sounded fine.. Volvo Virgin
yeah.. wasn't Matt selling his a while ago?His radio was gone a long time ago,but he had the amp he got rid of a short while back.Where is the dolby processor located?Pretty odd that my lower end 816 plays CD-Rs,but the top of the line 900 series doesn't.Is it just me or is VS running slow as dog kaka today? connorb850
Rob,All the SC series radios had internal amps except the 900 and 901, so you will need an external amp if you upgrade. In all the 70 series cars with the center speaker, the dolby processor is behind and below the radio, near the heater core. If equipped with the 900/901, the S/V70 had the smaller amp under the passenger seat and the C70 had the 400 watt amp in the back near the antenna motor If I Recall Correctly. MikeG
My R had an aftermarket HU when I bought it, but still had all the other stuff. I ripped it all out, so now I have the Dolby processor, its bracket, the amp, and the wiring harness on a shelf in my garage. PM me if you decide to go down that path.HTH
