Ok, so, i love my 855. Especially after i get rid of this pesky CEL. Anyway, two things i was pleasantly suprised to see that the new car had were 1) a wing and 2) a trailer hitch

My parents have a boat my friends and i never use cause we don't want to use parents cars, but now my cool ride has a trailer hitch which will be wicked awesome when i want to take the boat, but when i'm not going to be using the boat, it's is mega ugly.

I want the ball thing out of the hitch but it's siezed. For the past week or so about every second day i go out with a can of WD-40 and spray it then hammer it, but i'm not making any progress as far as i can tell.

I'm wondering if i should tie the ball to a tree with a chain or something and start driving, or if i'd be better off taking the whole unit off the car, give it hell until the ball comes out and then re-installing.

What do you think - IT'S GOT TO GO!!

I actually did the chain to a tree (my dads 1 ton van actually) and drive away trick. It works. Prelubed with PBlaster of course

I have the volvo oem trailer hitch with that goofy size receiver tube. Its inbetween the us sizes. Anyway, I ground down the male portion *alot* before putting that sucker back in there. Works fine now and doesn't get stuck.

I would advise that nobody be standing near the car when you do this :)

IT"S A BLACK CAR, IT ALWAYS LOOKS DIRTY!!

Haha.. i washed it the day i got the tints and it's dirty again. It's fall, and it's been rainy so that makes for a lot of crap getting splashed up on my car.

I can't imagine pulling this thing on a tree would be much worse than pulling a trailer over a curb. I'm sure the old lady can take it, and i'll find some ashphalt to try it on.

I gotta get rid of it.. no one pimps with a trailer hitch!

Torch. Use it to heat the back of the female part of the hitch - not red hot, just make it too hot to touch, and continue to spay your solvent / lubricant on the rusted parts. That will pull the WD40 or whatever solvent you use, toward the back. (just don't start a fire) Then use a hammer.

If it doesn't come off, remove hitch. Heat the female part of the hitch until it is very very hot, then hammer the male piece. You need to heat the female side very quickly, before the male piece has time to heat as much. This allows the female piece to expand, without the male piece expanding with it. It will be best to use an acetylene torch if available. If not, maybe you can use MAPP gas? The bigger the difference in temperatures between the male and female pieces, the easier it will be to remove.

Cranky

Well i tried the pull, but on really sketchy terrain (i'm not going to explain), and no dice - it's still in there pretty solid.
