You just asked me what the biggest building was, I have been in Stuttgart 8 times in the last 5 years. Your ignorance is frustrating and don't call me a dumb idiot. I have a double bachelor's and post graduate studies at the Goethe University in Frankfurt; I speak 3 languages fluently, not including programming languages.

I kindly asked him to point me to the nearest VAG factory in Stuttgart. I would like to see this mystical factory next time I'm there. Biggest complexes are the DamilerBenz factory and the VfB Stuttgart Stadium. Otherwise Stuttgart is a pretty boring place.

I wonder if he's aware the new state of the art VAG factory is actually in Dreseden. They've come a long way since 1945.

Hearsay isn't going to impress anyone here.

Maybe he was confusing the I5 for the PRV engine that engine was designed in the 70's.

Still not Lotus.

Although, yes, all Volvo engines are based on this design. You see the PRV-6 is like this:

123

456

All the I5's are based on this same design in which cylinders are used. You just take 6th cyllinder off and pull the 4th and 5th around in line like this:

12345

That must be what he meant.

I realize that the PRV is not Lotus. Just trying to figure out where he was misguided. Peugeot, Renault, Volvo, Lotus. They are all one company, right.

Lenovo computers aren't even labelled IBM anymore. You buy a ThinkPad by Lenovo - no more IBM markings.

bad info , IBM until 2007.

It's a forum , not a spelling BEE, and your are wrong , well the IBM /Lenovo is still sold in the USA.

Relationship with Porsche

The company has had a close relationship with Porsche, the Stuttgart-based sportscar manufacturer founded in 1947 by Ferry Porsche, son of the original Volkswagen designer Ferdinand Porsche. The first Porsche cars, the 1948 Porsche 356, used many Volkswagen components including a tuned engine, gearbox and suspension. Later collaborations include the 1969/1970 VW-Porsche 914, the 1976 Porsche 924 (which used many Audi components and was built at an VW/Audi factory in Stuttgart), and the 2002 Porsche Cayenne (which shares engineering with the VW Touareg).

Just a little add in to the discussion. I see that a lot of people use VAG frequently and if im not mistaking it is now the the VW group.

Also, I used to work for Svenska VW i Sodertalje, Sweden. This was about 5 years ago. They had plenty of Porshes at the plant which they equiped according to the consumers specifications plus we sold spare parts for Porshe. I drove the GT2 when it first came out thanks to this fact...

So im just a little puzzled about VW not owning Porshe, is there some kind of symbiosis going on in between them two meaning that VW does not own Porshe even though they clearly handle the distribution troughout Sweden?! ...I just need a good explanation, my world is upside down at this moment :D

Oh by the way did yall know that Harley Davidson is going to make the engine and exhaust for the new C70 convertible Extra Loud Edition.

It's true cus I read it on the internet! :P

How does that prove that VAG owns Porsche? Yes, they work together - that has nothing to imply ownership. <_<

By your logic and implications Lotus must own Volvo? No wonder all the kids think these things are sports cars!

Click on IBM's site. They clearly state that the ThinkPad is a product of Lenovo. Last ThinkPad I saw (X-series) has no IBM marking on it anywhere.

In various regions a lot of automakers distribute other makes cars through their dealerships. Porsche probably didn't see the Swedish market as large enough to sustain their own independant dealerships so they struck a deal with a company to help them out logistically.

For a short time Ford cars were distributed through Toyota dealerships in Japan. That was a purely logistical relationship - it does not imply that one company owned the other.

I doubt anyone disputes a tight relationship between VW and Porsche. Up until recently, Ferdinand Piech, the grandson and namesake of Ferdinand Porsche, was the CEO of Volkswagen AG (the new VAG meaning - AG means Aktiengesellschaft or corporation :), not VW-Audi Group). Again, the assertion was the VW owned Porsche, not that they collaborate.

Could be an importer thing.

In my area I buy Porsche brake parts at the Porsche desk inside a VAG (Audi/VW) dealership.

Oh, I heard that the Volvo 5 cylinder is based on the Honda Vigor 2.5 ltr 5 cylinder engine...
