Guest Scott in DC
The AM section on the factory radio in my 2000 V40 suddenly started cutting out this morning when I went over bumps. FM seems unaffected. I had just had a brake job and s carwash at the dealer, but I doubt there's any connection (I did remove and re-install the whip antenna on the roof twice.) If I pull the head unit out of the dash, the AM comes back, although it cuts in and out as I move the unit around. I've removed and re-installed the antenna input plug several times. At the moment, after a lot of twisting the input cable around, it seems to be working again, but I haven't driven over any bumps yet.Why would the AM cut out when the FM is fine?
jl2
Check to see if the fix for your issue is the same as for the 99-04 S80's, which is a brass strip that's installed at the antenna connection. On the S80 it's a dealer TSB. Good luck.
