Overboost Problems Continue

Hello,

My continueing battle with overboost in my 94 850 turbo took another turn today. Today I replaced both the line from the compressor to the BCS and the line from the BCS to the wastegate actuator. The compressor to BCS had infact failed and was torn in two when I started working. I felt this would easily fix the situation, and I could go back to enjoying my daily driver.

Well, not quite. I have faster tip in, it starts easier, and builts boost quicker.. all becase of the repaired vacuum leak. BUT. now it builds even more boost than it did before (because its not leaking B) ) Now the battle to find the issue contiunes.

I checked my wastegate with the air compressor, and it does move and hold air (it only appears to jump maybe a 1/16 of an inch or less... im not sure how far they move on these mitsubishi turbos.. i know on my Garretts it moves a bit futher than that..). Im ASSumeing this is okay.. but I do have my doubts that this is correct.

The only other culprit could be the BCS, the computer isnt reporting any faults other than 315 (EVAP) and 414 (Boost Pressure To High) so Im going to guess its electricly good. But how is it acutated.. is it open at 12V or closed at 12V? I know this silenoid is expensive and rarely fails.. but im running out of places to look and driving with only 1/4 throttle is getting old :) Any one know a by the book way to check the BCS for proper opperation.

Thank you all once again for your guidance.

Kevin

how far will the needle go into the white on the stock boost gauge. stock boost is about half way.

if you are getting a overboost code, check ALL the hoses, mine cracked/split on the wastegate hose and i threw that code as well.

it could be the bcs, but it is most likely a hose.

oops, just saw that you replaced both hoses. isn't there three hoses coming to and from the BCS?

it will shoot clear off the stock guage if I allow it. There are three hoses on my BCS.. but the other was in good shape and only goes to the intake hose. I know the compressor to BCS line is good, i installed the clamp myself, and I know its on and nice and tight.
