Gauges That Fit 850r Interior

Defi D-Gauge certainly looks like it'll do the trick. Little spendy, but I'd rather make it look good the first time than buy 2-3 different sets trying to get it right...like I've been doing on my 240. :( Only problem is that the AFR is analog - I have one of those in my 240 and it doesn't really do it for me. I have to look away from the road to see how my things are, as opposed to a LED gauge that would give me a more or less instant reading out of my peripheral vision.

Autometer Phantom series smile.gif

Put the green bulb condom on and they are almost an exact match to factory lighting smile.gif

Trust me, it looks good.

I have the Phantoms also. Because of the white face, it lights up well and color is easy to change. I use LEDs in mine and they are bright. smile.gif

I'll probably go this route...though I might consider the Cobalts as well if the blue/silver clusters out of the new R's will fit into my 855.

Thanks guys!

Autometer PAYS teams to use their gauges, put their stickers on the car, and sing their praises. A LOT of money. If a gauge breaks, Autometer replaces it. What do the race teams care? Autometer could replace them every other race for all they care. But when you are an end consumer spending your hard earned money on a boost gauge that is not even calibrated properly. Well, that is just sad.

The money that teams get paid is called "Contingency Money". You use thier product during an event that they are sponsoring and display thier sticker and they toss you a couple of bucks. They just dont do it for NASCAR, they do it for a number of other automotive sports as well. And they arent the only ones:

MSD

Moog

Sunoco

VP

Moser

Aviad

Barnes

Mobil 1

etc etc etc.

And believe me when I say its not alot of money. It costs roughly 1,000,000.00 per event for a team to bring a car to it. The total from the contingecy makes up for less than 5-10% and that is with ALL of the other contigency money thrown into the pot. The teams major sponsors and private backing soak up the rest.

And as for replacing broken gauges, they do it for me to, not just the high dollar teams. Anytime I have had a problem with a guage which has been all of 3 times over the past 12 years (mostly because of my own mistake), they have replaced it at no charge.

It has also been my experience that when a gauge appears to be miscalibrated it usually boils down to the end user not installing it properly. Especially boost gauges. If the fitting isnt TOTALLY SEALED it will never read properly. My race car uses nothing but Pro-comp liquid filled mechanical guages. I had problems with both the trans temp and the water temp gauges. Niether of them read anywhere close to accurate. I called autometer explained the problem to them and they said "check the lines for cracks and see if you smell the hint of ether". Sure enough, when I got my nose close enough to the fire wall where I ran the lines through.....yup, ether. Because I was to lazy to install a gromet the fire wall had rubbed through the line. I called autometer and explained what happend. "No problem, whats your address? 2 new ones are on the way over to you. Just put your old ones back inthe box and send them back to us."

Race teams use autometer because they are accurate. I use them because of the response time over my facotry gauges and accuracy over factory gauges. Not onlythat they absolutely OOZE with "bitchen' factor".

But if you guys want the creme de la creme, the big dog, the one that cant be touched:

Accept no substitute if your wallet will allow it.

electric v mechanical?

If at all possible I run mechanical gauges. I trust them more than something that runs the possiblity of shorting out.
