JHEIII874T5M
hmmmm. Ok so scratch "bypass" and change to "replace with racing cat" and cahnge that cost to $200. much better :)
zomaster
Joe ran a 13.88 and 14.0 on stock exaust piping, minus the cat and muffler, with just a magnaflow "Wide Open" muffler in place of the cat. I believe that the stock exaust diameter is fine, if you dont mind the noise of a very free flowing exaust, if you want it silent and catted however, a 3" may be a better option.what mods does joe have, or am i the only person who doesnt know :(
TorqueSteer
For the 13.88, he had upsolute chip, Dawes MBC open downpipe and stage zero stuff. For the 14.0 he had stock chip, Greddy Profec B EBC, stock exaust minus cat and muffler and 475 cc injectors
whatme
why in the world would you put bigger injectors if you have dont have anyting more than a modified exhaust and ebc?
TorqueSteer
Because then you can boost 18-20 psi on the stock ecu.
whatme
stock ecu??? wouldnt the turbo be the problem? A 15t would be waaaaaaay out of its eficiency range at 20 psi wouldnt it? i always thought fuel octane would be the problem at 20 psi not amount of fuel/ delivery. brick-a-brac
If you don't want to blow your money go "Custom". The prefabbed stuff will blow your budget. Unless you can find one for sale for real cheap.Even a custom one could blow your budget, but more then likely it wont. From what I have asked around in my area. Now five pages deep into this thread and I'm still curious: is there a prefabbed system that is civilized for a daily driver, but is capable of getting some of those gasses flowing more rapidly? Of course I understand the benefits of opening up the piping all the way to the turbo, but I'm not looking to get into DPs and racing cats at present, if at all. So, of the usual suspects, which is the better quiet performer? Thanks
whatme
JT is a good way to go for those who want performance but dont want to wake the neighborhood when they get back home. Too bad im so cheap or i would probably be getting one.
narxs70
The one I have looks similar to this muffler, and has a 2.5 inch entrance in the back for the piping from the cat. Would this idea work?

So, of the usual suspects, which is the better quiet performer?ThanksThe IPD exhaust is VERY quiet; almost too quiet for me, but I'm sure it helps a good bit with flow versus the stock system. The BSR system is supposed to be pretty much identical to the TME/IPD setup, but can be had for like $160 cheaper from Engstrom.
