calgary850awd
So quick question, I have a 97 850 AWD with nivomat shocks. Can I replace these with non-nivomat shocks. I called the local dealer and they could not tell me if it was possible. Any help would be appreciated. CB

Big Will
Yes you just won't have the benefits of nivomats anymore. I believe there are also kits sold through IPD and probably others specifically with the purpose of changing to normal suspension.by the way, 850 AWD good stuff...wish we had more of those around. Guest AlvinL
Do a search. I recall there was a topic by someone who bought a wagon where the nivomats were replaced with regular shocks. However, the springs were not strong enough?Found it for you... http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.php?showtopic=30192

Pops122
on a 740 when you get rid of the nivomat you need to replace the springs with non nivomat springs, the softer springs are a part of the way the nivomat shocks work, like a team, you have to get rid of both
