biged30
Those that have installed playstaions, xboxs, or miscellanious electrical stuff I assume all of you used 12V to 110V current converters. How easy was it to install and has it caused any strain on the alternator or battery? I'm running a lot already with audio and video and I'm not necessarly set on putting in a game system, but I want to know for reference.

A game machine doesn't have an amp in it, so it won't be taking a lot of power to run.
biged30
haha, naw probably wouldnt run the stereo at full blast while playing games. I have more than 500 watts pumping too. So essentually running a game system even off a voltage converter does no more drain than running any 12v device plugged into a cigarette lighter? Yeah it would be a fun little project to do, but I would have to figure out where to have the converter installed. Under the back seat? plus a place to have the game system and keep everything clean. I guess for now I can throw a PSP or for the old schol type I still ahve a game gear. Yes a game gear circa early 90s.
Zappo
If you plug in a 175 watt power inverter, but the game machine is only using 30, it only uses 30. Not sure what the game machines really use, but it can't be a lot.I have a small 175 watt inverter, but I haven't used it yet.
yangotang
I know for a fact that the PS2 that my friend had connected to his Mazda 5 was rated for 72W of power. He used a 400W inverter and was able to play loud music while playing PS2 on the stock battery.I believed he sourced the 400W inverter from Costco. biged30
Costco huh? I love me some Costco, unfortunately when I got out here to lovely Oklahoma I came to realize they dont have COstco out here. Maybe when I go to Indianapolis for a weekend in December I'll make a trip over to Costco. Did your buddy's inverter come with plenty of wire? Cause my idea for placement would require a ton of wire, bout the same amount for an amp.

biged30
yeah I dont know if you saw my other post I started showing my system. Unfortunately the glowbox is not an option now. NOt even tucked behind the glovebox. You should see how tight of a fit behind there it is.Yeah if custom wiring is needed I'll probably leave that to a shop so I can get some warranty on the job. Although I'm pretty good with wiring, I would ahte to have a bad wiring job on an inverter turn ugly. PLus I woudlnt want to fry a game system.
