whatme
ok, so im planning the exhaust modifications and all that pretty soon but christmas is a coming and my parents tend to have a pretty Darn high budget for their boy. I was thinking about getting a couple of other things, an FMIC kit or down pipe, but i kinda want power now. I was thinking about getting a zex wet injection nitrous kit. I wouldnt be running a huge shot, 50-75 probably. I know about all the ill efects of nitrous but considering Ben just tried a hunderd shot on his already pretty powerfull car and it didnt just destroy it, i think it wouldnt be as bad. Plus power is power to the internals of the engine and my poor auto trany, and considering that some of the guys have squezed out a good 300+ whp out of their stock internals/trany im not to woried. Plus you always have the benifit of being able to up the hp on your car as long as it can handle it. Anyways, are there any ill-effects from equiping the laughing gas to just a stock car? StickThatClutch
Key is to control your fueling. How do you plan on doing that?
ToxicLemonade
yea of course, melting the piston rings is one. Im looking into a wet kit as well, probably next summer though. i guess as long as you dont run it everyday and use it wisely you should be fine. Also depends on how strong your motor is and what shape it is in.
whatme
im planning on going the wet injection route. That covers the fuel issue pretty well for low shot boosts im pretty sure.
whatme
melting piston rings is usualy caused by to lean a f/a ratio right? The turbo should start to knock pretty bad before i hit that point. Plus, as bens car demonstrated, the t-5r motors can handle quite a bit of torture. Even still, though he may have gotten by with a 100 shot with stock internals/trany on a car that already had a good bit more hp than mine that still doesnt keep me from being concerned about destroying my daily driver... working up the money to do a tranny replacement when your almost broke couldnt be to much fun.plus i tend to be a little...overzealous? with my right foot. :D
Texas850Turbo
What kind of Stage 0 have you done? As we have seen, the nitrous adds ~5psi of boost to your engine, which could do any number of things to an engine not accustomed to it, from blowing a turbo hose to blowing out your intake manifold cap like what happened to me.Sounds like fun, but better safe than sorry! :P
whatme
far as stage one goes i just replaced air filter for a k&n. Thats the kind of stuff i was wondering about. What kind of stuff would be vulnerable to increased engine wear/higher turbo pressure? Now im talking smaller stuff...you know, the kind of thing you can replace pretty cheap, not rods and such. Anyone have suggestions for things i should look over/ replace before bolting on a nitro kit?
JHEIII874T5M
replace all your vacuum lines with silicone, buy the samco turbo hose kit, and get a seriously free flowing exhaust system. Also, you may want a stronger fuel pump.
