Any S70 Owners Interested In Door Pods

ok guys i have a dilema. i decided to build fiberglass doorpods to house two 7" dayton reference speakers. i am more than halfway fnished with my driver side pod, i just need to apply body filler, sand, and then paint or vinyl it. i have yet to start on the passenger pod. the problem is that my brother's car has crapped out and i have made the tough decision to give him my s70 and buy a new car. he is a rookie businessman and he would not want a car with this kind of exotic modification. my question is: would anyone be interested in buying these doorpanels should i finish them? i wouldn't charge much, mostly i would want to trade for stock doorpanels and a little extra to cover the materials and time it has taken to build them. mostly i don't want my hard work to go to waste.

they would fit in a 98 and up s70. the panels are tan.

i have worked in a very good restoration shop for two years and am just beginning to open a car audio shop.

here are pics of the dashboard i built for my kit car to attest for my work. dash

email me at robbyho@gmail.com or post here.

the only thing is, people wiht daily drivers may not want vinyl or painted door panels due to its rather fragile nature, can you finish in matching carpet?

i will post pics when i can, but i have no camera now. i didn't want to post in the for sale section because i don't have the pods finished yet. i am trying to first see if there woould be an interest in them. i am not trying to make money, just trying to allow someone to get use out of my hard work. i would charge no more than $100 for both door panels with the custom pods and a trade for original panels. anyone who has paid for custom fiberglass work could tell you that a custom job like this is worth much more. i know this thread is useless without pics so i will do my best to get a camera.

by the way bing, your kick panels have created a stir on eca. monster kickpanels

this is how i found this volvo site

Hey Rob,

though you dont own that s70 anymore, it would be nice for you to stick around and check back here once in a while to give out some fabrication and sound advice.

my fabrication experience is rather limited, and judging by the pics on your site, you do very nice jobs :)

also if you know your s70 inside out, it would be a big help for other p1 70 series guys here

where are you located?

it is reassuring that you think someone will buy these door panels. i don't know if i should finish these and then trade them to someone on here, or if i should scrap the half finished one and buy a new panel. i think i will risk it and go ahead and at least finish this one, post some pics and if anyone wants to buy them i will finish the other side.

i am in melbourne florida, which is on the east coast between palm bay and cocoa. i just moved here and i am broke, i don't have a camera nor do i know anyone who does. i moved from milford, ct this fall.

i'm gonna do my best to find a camera. and post some pics soon. my brother is taking the car on thanksgiving which gives me 8 days to figure out what to do.

ok bing, i'll stay on the forum for a while. i know the interior of my s70 pretty well as i have taken it apart a bunch. i also owned a 94' 940 before this. i know a lot about that car too, so i am sure i could help someone out.

i cut out the pocket that is in the bottom half of the door towards the front of the car. the speaker pod fills up this cavity. as i said, it was built to house two 7" dayton reference speakers. the one towards the front is angled towards my sunroof to act as a midrange and the rear most one is angled slightly upwards, but mostly parallel with the door. the pod is sealed right now, but i expected that i would open up the back to the inner door panel for better bass response. i wanted to hear it acton before doing so.

i designed the pod so the furthest forward 7" would act as a midrange paired with a tweeter in the factory dash location, and the rearmost 7" to act as a midbass.

after time, i was going to build kick panels with the dayton 5" midrange and the dayton rs28 tweeter, then using both 7" woofers as midbasses. i would use 6 channels of amplification for this set up, two for tweeters, two for the 5" midranges, and two for the pair of 7" midbasses. this of course would require active crossovers. this was going to be one hell of a system!

i'm going to go work on the driver side pod now. i'm asking everyone i know for a camera.
