Bing_0
you dont...those cleaning discs have had little or even ill effects on a mobile cd player from what i have seen.usually, when a cd player starts to skip, there is little you can do but to replace it or send it for repairs rebuild.usually the laser mechanism has gone bad, or hte dampers....b
Figawi
could i take it apart and clean the laser with alcohol wiipes or something? my cds are scratched so that might add to the problem but occasionally i will get an -EE- message on the display. Bing_0
you are definetly welcome to try, but i would honestly place my money on that you spending a ton of effort, and making no difference in the end...but hey, if you fix it, post the info and it may be of great help for vs members b

Grimreaper
my factory hu sc-815 is skipping a lot of tracks on my CDs. how can i clean the inside of my HU without damaging anything?I cleaned my SC-805 last saturday and "played" a bit with the laser. Now it has no problems with original CDs, and no problems with most of the burned CD-Rs... But still, this is only temporary. You will probably need to buy a new HU pretty soon. Figawi
what did you do to it? was it easy to get to the laser?
Grimreaper
what did you do to it? was it easy to get to the laser?Well, they complicated it a bit. But nothing special, take your time and be patient After about 12 screws, you`re there. After cleaning laser lens and "adjusting" the laser, SC-805 now plays CDs without any problems. It used to stop playing CDs after 6th or 7th song, sometimes even skip songs, wouldn`t play most of CD-Rs etc. No it still has samo problems with some burned CDs, but when a CD is read, you`re in bussines :D
