Low Dyno Number On A 2006 S60 R

I recently purchased a 2006 s60r 6speed. After about 5k miles I decided to get my car dynoed but results were very dissapointing. I dynoed at 192.8whp and 192wtq.

Thats the link to the dyno video.

I was wondering is there certain way to dyno the car? Certain sensors to unplug? Wind speed sensor like the new audis? Is the car running on safe mode cause there isnt enough front wind speed?

I also have attached the pic of the dyno graph. Dyno was done on a mustang dynamometer.

nick,

that does seem way to low.

what gear/gears

awd disabled or run in awd.

what % was subtracted for loss.

temps play a factor.

most stockes i've seen are around 258whp.

volvo figure of 300 was on a bench at the crank with perfect conditions.

do some mods you can get to your real 300

All the dyno pulls were done in 4th gear. Awd wasnt disabled. I believe thats cheating, on trying to make more power beening the car is awd(I dont even know how to turn it off :D ). It was about 40F.

4th was probably the wrong gear for doing this. fourth is almost one to one ratio

my experience, the V at least pulls hardest in 2nd/ 3rd.

i have a my04 V R gt

i have no idea what fuse to pull in an 06 to disable the awd. try swedespeed R forum.

awd has a much higher lose of pwr vs fwd.

So you dynoed on a RWD dyno with AWD? I don't understand..

I forget which one, but there's a fuse you pull to just go FWD. That's part of your problem right there.

I also suggest posting this up on Swedespeed. Not very many R guys here.

Its a awd dyno. Mustang dynamometer dont mean its designed for mustang. Its a type of dyno. Also why would i dyno in FWD. The cars on the road constantly awd fourm. Yes I would dyno more in FWD mode due to less drivetrain loss but thats not my true dyno number. usually RWD and FWD have about 15 to 20 percent drivetrain loss and AWD has about 25 percent. But it seem like i have 34 percent drivetrain loss which is ridiculous.

Also when your doing a dyno, you wanna do it in closest to 1 to 1 ratio. Not what gear pulls the hardest.

Just a couple quick things to consider -

-What type of gas where you running? If it was mid-grade, it could definately effect your output.

-Did the dyno technician compensate for the final drive ratio with a speedo check? (Looks like they did since the graph ends at 6600rpm)

-Was there a big fan feeding the intercooler?

All of these could make signifact differences. Heck, when we run Porsche 996s on the dyno, if the "spoiler" in the back is down, the car makes 20hp less. Lots of contributing factors to look at. Dinan had a big problem a couple years back when their cars didn't quite put down the power promised. Steve Dinan later released a statement, or a list of excuses on why the cars dynoed low, saying that the conditions were not the same as his shops. You might want to look up that statement to see some contributing factors.

Yes there was a big fan feeding the intercooler 2 fans at that. we revved the car to the limiter also we did many pulls this was the best results(some were in the 180s). I always run 93 octane or higher.

Again it sounds pretty typical for a mustang dyno. On a dyno jet I am willing to bet you would pull closer to 220 which is where you should be.

Weird thing is my friend pulled out numbers he was expecting everyone else was on this day. Only I was pulling out low numbers. This is the reason why im concerned.

Were they comparing their "expected" numbers with others on a mustang dyno?

P.S. Take your car to the 1/4 mile track and see what it traps.

Call me Josh, but I always thought you wanted to dyno in the gear that gives closest 1:1 gear ratio... Shows what the real engine power is, not added power by gearing? :josh:
