javadoc
Why do you need to do hand brake turns in the snow? Maybe because FF automobiles understeer like pigs in the snow, and a hand brake tap coaxes the vehicle to turn.
fastboy
Ohh if you want to fix yer problem real good, put snow tires on the front and summer on the back, that way you can have some real fun!reverse that in the summer for some nice fwd drifting!

Asinine
the reason i do handbrake turns is.. well cause they are MAD FUN!We go out to a local college with huge parking lots and no speed bumps and get the cars up to like 80km/h when there is a decent level of packed snow below the powder and the the car go.. see how far we can go sideways. My friend (no mechanic) told me about hand brake turns when i was in high school and i thought he was crazy, i thought it MUST do some damage to the car. But as long as you keep your head on straight and don't go into curbs or hit a pothole or road sign it's just a whole lot of fun!!!I'm sure we'll get some video this winter. I have some of some of my old cars, but none in the volvo... yet!I'm sure i can still have some fun with winters all around.. rather do that, then have the jerk end slide out when i don't want it to!!! Veneficus
In the snow? The coefficient of friction is almost zero.Yes, theoretically in the snow the coefficient of friction is almost zero, but the rocks and cinders under the snow make the threat more viable. You also have to remember... you're going sideways and thus the snow is being pushed and you're eventually going to hit asphalt. Now if we were talking a nice sheet of ice you're better off... that is as long as you don't have any telephone poles.

G-Mick
wait, you guys are talkin about snow right?+1 for the nwc! good luck guys.Just snowed here tonight a couple of inces, first winter with the volvo and it handled quite well with my pirelli p-zero nero tires, not quite as well as the acura legend tho but still quite reliable. Im satisfied, since this is pretty much the most snow we ever get... and its only november too!

V Tuning 850
I love my AWD in the snow. Works pretty well. Slides a few times here and there. But fun as hell.
