01V40NordicJapan
Hello all - my first post on this forum - seems like a good group you got going here.I just picked a used 2001 V40 Nordic here in Japan and am ready to drop in a system.I have already the Eclipse Navi (double din) and a Audison L series 4.300 amp. I plan to pick up Focal fronts and a Solo 10 for the trunk. The amp is small enough to mount in the spare tire area.My questions1. How do you mount the head unit? Is there a kit? I can find nothing here in Japan or online so far.2. What are the speaker sizes up front and in the doors? If anyone has any recommendations for front staging I am all ears as well. Thanks in advance,Jason in Japan
Bing_0
hi there, welcome to the board well, mounting the eclipse double din in your euro-double din slot may be a bit of work, or it may not be. is the eclipse a caged unit? if it is, you will need to find a way to secure the cage into the cavity, and then secure the headunit to the cage. its hard to say how much work you will encounter, my guess is that it will be more work than a kenwood unit but less work than the avic-d1 i recently installed. you can serach for avic-d1 in audio forum for how i secured that unit. a custom trim ring may be neccessaryas for speakres, you have 5.25" upfront in the doors, dash tweets, not sure about the v40 and what it has back there, but the s40 has 5.25" in the rear deck.honestly, best bet for sound since you are going with nice equipment, is kick ponels, here is what i did on a s40:
01V40NordicJapan
Thanks Monster Kick for the quick response.I saw those pods and do admire them - just not sure if I am up for making a set. Think I will start with doors and mount the tweaters near the mids (not in the dash of course). It is not caged. Would I be able to use the mounts on the factory deck? It is a double din. Also, there are 2 plugs - green and grey - do you know the wiring scheme? Thanks again - Jason
Bing_0
get metra harness 70-9221 for the wiring adapter, and also get metra antenna adapater 40vl30, volvo ant adapter so you can plug the FM into the new radio. I am pretty sure metra is in japan, no?as for mounting hte unit, like most double dins, they are desinged for use in japanese vehicles where you can remove the stock mounting bracket from the stock headunit and mount htem to the aftermarket headunits. but since we do not have a true double din but a euro style double din, we dont have these brackets, whcih means finding a way to secure the unit int he dash is going to be your main challenge. its hard for me to offer a suggestion without first seeing how tightly the unit slides into the dash cavity...b
