The speed limit is too fast in wet, dark, slippery conditions... But double the limit can be ok if there's an empty, dry straight road with no traffic, in my opinion. Speed doesn't kill. Inappropriate speed and careless driving does.Then again, I'm just biased against the "speed kills" thing as they plug it so heavily here, and use it as a money-making scheme while turning a blind eye to all the unroadworthy and dangerous cars on our roads. I mean, what else are you alive for?I agree, however, when a special someone is waiting for you to come home that night, it changes the equation.
