Euro Blinker Relay?

It should be quite easy to achieve this by a simple timer relay such as this:

You could probably set it up with one timer module to work with both sides, but that would require some brain power which I am lacking at this hour, some sort of latching circuit for each side. But anyway, one timer module per side of the car would be the simplest. When power is removed the relay will remain closed for the specified user programmed period. It may also be able to set up this module so that the timer starts when power is first applied, and when complete it resets, not cycles, and therefore when you hold the stalk switch (or fully click the stalk in the full turnsignal position) for longer than the timed period the effect will not continue beyond the point when the stalk is released.

You certainly can design a circuit to do this from scratch, but this would be easier, at least for me it would.

Good idea. Windshield wiper electrics do this already (think about how it knows where to park, even when turned off mid-sweep). The better trick the Europeans have is using them as parking spotter lights, i.e. when parked in a narrow alley and the car sticks out further than others, you can park and just illuminate one side of the parking light circuit to save power and make the car viewable to oncoming traffic. This is also achieved via the blinker switch.

It is a German standart and in the all cars made in Germany or made FOR Germany have it.

I saw one of those new MB suvs the other day, and it had both of its side view mirror pulled in. I'm thinking new automatic feature? It's not really that important in N. America, except when I'm on a ferry I usually fold them in. One time in a ferry lineup some idiot walked right into my mirror, luckily 850 side mirrors fold outwards as well as inwards!

As long as I remember 874/875 has this feature as an option but not sure for 854/855
