Kibim
Blue wire If I recall Correctly ... It'll be with the power cluster. Red is ignition, yellow is perm power, black is negative. Others could be for powered antenna or amp remote, but i believe the volvos' amps remote off the din cable. If there's anything other than red and yellow connected to power, remove it. s40euro
Ok I have checked it According to Bay 13 it is Rheostat But the cable is plugged in between Pink and Grey wire on the A connector. According to the scheme from Bay 13 it is number 10 Check the position with your HU if it is empty or not

Kibim
I think the idea is that it is not connected, but see what happens. I had this when someone decided it was very wise to connect the loose cable.
Guest Guest
The problem was there is a muting fuction on sc-816 that was tapped for the remote signal to the amplifier. That "phone" mute is used in the european market and not in the states. Thanks for all the help.
s40euro
Looking at Bay 13, Gray=A8 and Pink=A10 so it is A9! THX! I owe you one! I will let you know what happens when I connect up!Cheers! The position must be EMPTY first check the connector an then connect .It is a very small place I could not take a picture but it must be pin number 10 and must be EMPTY POSITION.Be very carefull when doing I dont want you burn the HU :)

s40euro
Understood. I am going on the assumtion that 9A is the empty location - not 10A (pink)I'm a little confused about european connections for an amplifier, however (*Guest*)S40euro - are you in North America? Please verify with Bay 13 Pinouts. I assume 9A since it appears to be open from the Bay 13 diagram.Cheers!I am in Europe. But as long as I know the HUs must have same specs.According to the Bay13 drawing my mute cable is installed on number 10 and it is emty in my HU. 3 cables empty slot 1 cable When I look at to the connector (from the pinholes side not the cable side) second row 4th from the right.Check the picture

s40euro
Thx for the clarification. 10A it is (assuming that there is no pink wire present). by the way, where is your pink wire? I am curious as to what the reostat+ is used for. Perhaps the spec called for a pink wire in 10A, and its not installed at the factory. I'll have to look at my HU to confirm. It does make sense that a reostat connection would be used for muting the radio. I appreciate all your effort S40euro. I'll report back after I confirm and install the mute from my cell phone. Just an afterthought - 11A is the reostat ground. Do you suspect that will be needed?10A is where I will connect.Thx!Cheers!Pink is on 11 and rheostat is for illumunition change dimmer in other words

Rabbit
A friend of mine does. Its in his 960. Came that way. What do you need me to check? It would help if posts were NOT deleted after 10 minutes My apology for deleting my posts. I get frustrated here at Volvospeed, and posted a visually dramatic - eye-catching display - based on anger and frustration with this website. I won't go into detail about it...Please forgive my moment of weakness. Back to the subject. Yes, I would appreciate knowing how it was accomplished with the SC-816.On Friday I installed a Motorola E815 Hands free car kit into my wifes 2000 V70XC. I didn't have any information on connecting the mute wire up to the SC-816. I coiled it up under the dash....Thank you R4Life. I appreciate your response, and look foward to any information you can supply.Cheers, Rabbit
