ultra_runner
So starts a long hard journey!Brand New Volvo M66 transmission arrived in a heavy wooden crate today! I guess Santa came a bit early this year. This won't be in until spring as I need to pull the engine and rebuild and do a few other things. But I am going to need the help and resources from a lot of people here. I really should photo document the journey in case any one else (crazy enough) wishes to travel this path.OK - someone give me a crowbar!Scott C. ultra_runner
Aaahh.. and there in lies the journey. Consider jross' comments from last year:Price is ~$3k, If I Recall Correctly. I was the one that went to the dealer, and sat down and figured out if this would fit or not -- we're not 100% sure, but both the M56 and M66 were offered on the S60s, though I think it was in different years, but we didn't think Volvo would change the engines drastically enough that the M56 and M66 wouldn't be able to be swapped between them. I'm trying to think back to how we figured it out, so I might be a little fuzzy The only real advantage it has over the M56/M59 is that it's a 6 speed, however the R owners who have the M66 apparently are having alot of problems with the cabling & etc -- it may not really be possible to fit this on our cars, just for that reason alone. Just my $.02Now Seamus has wrestled the M66 into his V70 and has given a lot of feedback to the board on this. But - now we're going to try it for real on an 850 T5. World's first 6-speed 850 maybe? Only difference - I got mine brand new for $850 (SHIPPED!).Scott C.

ultra_runner
Ahhhh... we went back and forth a couple of times, but in the wise words of my mentor and close family relative; I made him an offer he couldn't refuse. If I don't get the price I want, I call my cousins Rocko and Guido.Scott C.Alex - be careful. You might wake up with a horse head in your bed!
