Dvk
How do I install a high low converter to my stock 95 volvo 850 radio to get rca outputs for my amp?
Bing_0
a high low converter has an input side and an output side.the in put side has two PAIRS of speaker wires coming out, left and right sdie, each positive and negative wires. waht you do is tape these speaker wires into the stock speaker wiring, left and right, you can do this at either behind the radio, or anywhere in between the radio and the speaker where you can access the stock sepaker wiring, the easier is probably going to be your rear deck speaker if you ahve a sedan, or behind the radio if you have a wagon (the rearpillar speakres on wagons are probably high passed already).anyway, the output side of hte hihg low converter has two RCA outputs, you simply connect an rca cable from here to the amp. and done.some high low converters have a grounding wire, in most cases, dont worry abou thtis wire unless you are getting a lot of engine noise through the speakers your amp is powering, if it does, you can try grounding this wire, but in my experience, it doesnt do that much.enjoyb

Slater
How do I install a high low converter to my stock 95 volvo 850 radio to get rca outputs for my amp?I personally avoid high-low converters if possible. They degrade the signal and cause engine noise. If your stock radio has the AMP plug on it, I make a DIN adapter cable to convert it to 2 pairs of RCAs for you. No high-low converters needed. Just plug the adapter cable into the DIN plug on the back of the cable and run RCAs right to your new AMP. Clean and simple.

AnthonyR
Both slater and I have made them. I don't have any parts left to make any more, so you might try slater. Also if you go to http://project850.no-ip.org/There are instructions on how to make your own if your decent at soldering.I have a spot that says amp on the back of my stock radio what is that for? That is where you would plug one of those DIN adapters into. How do I hook up a high low converter to my stock 850 radio or how do i install a din cable adapter with rca outputs for my amp.WHich is better and how do i install them?DIN convertor is as cheap as the hi-lo convertor as is very easy. Just plug it into the amp connector and plug your RCA's into it. That way no cutting or finding wires or soldering. And it has loads better sound quality and clarity.
