Well, I chickened out. I placed an order for silver 18s today, should be here first week of January latest (depends on how fast they clear customs). I decided functionality over bling factor. I would have to have dedicated wheels to go up to the mountains and I didn't want to bother with that. After driving around this past weekend all around LA, I realized it's just not worth the headache of owning 19s and drive like a grandma over every little bump on the road. Will post pics once they are on the car.

You don't have to be anymore careful with 19s than you would with 18s. You still will need the dedicated mountain wheels with the 18s also.

Well, Scott from IPD kinda helped in making my decision. When they had their V70R project, they drove it all the way down from Portland to LA. He wouldn't recommend using 19s for daily driving. Also, I bent my 18s on my C70. True that can happen with 19s or even 17s, but I wanna give myself a better probability. I rode in Evolve's Blue S60R with the 19" HRE, and the ride, eventhough it has lowering springs (which my wagon will get also), well, I wouldn't want to be driving that every day. Every little bump on the road was jarring on the car.

I'm not sure but I believe Volvo has snow chains for the R, I don't know if they are 17s or 18s. (UPDATE: Volvo has them for 18s)

But like I said, I can always upgrade if I don't like it.

I'll have you guys poll once I get pics of the car with the wheels on. ETA is Jan 5th latest.
