Ok so you ordered the 18's but the deal fell through and now you're contemplating getting 19's again? If thats right i say just go for 19's. The difference you feel between 18's and 19's is going to be so minimal. If you think that smoking a pothole with 18's will be any different than 19's than your mistaken.

iPd would always recommend 18 over 19. You just need to pay attention and not let anyone else drive your car. That is how I maintain mine with 215/35. The 235/35's you'd want are roughly the same profile as 225/40/18, which most people here with 18's have.

No, the problem is that other than the Pegs, nobody else makes anything for the P2 R in 18s that even looks remotely decent. Most of the aftermarket manufacturers cater 19s now. Another thing is the boss aka the wife drives the car as well and is very adament about 19s. Also, from others have said is that camber adjustment is a major biatch with 19s and lowering springs with the R.

I have 19's on an S80 with 235/35's and its a ruggid ride. I'm going to try to solve it some with shocks, but they do look better.

by the way, go black with the polished lip, and although 19's are definately elite, you might just wanna go 18's for comfort. And is I5 really that bad in the central valley?

It's not the 5 I'm worried about, it's the 405 anywhere from the Valley to the 605. Worst bloody fwy on the planet. Makes some gravel roads feel smoother.

I drove that route daily. It doesn't matter if you run 17, 18, or 19 on that freeway, it will always be a crappy ride. If you aren't paying attention and you hit a pothole, I guarantee you have no more protection from bending or cracking with an 18" over a 19". The ride quality difference is unnoticable between 18" and 19", especially after you lower the car.

by the way- The 405 is just a rigid freeway is spots. The 5 is tore up and not maintained, it is much worse than the 405.

Now that your wife will be getting the car, it changes my answer. Beware, beware! Non-curbed 18's also look better than curbed 19's. Do 235's on 8's and find something with decent curb guards.

I know I sound pessimistic, but once while I was in China, my mother needed to drive the Golf 15 miles to work and back one day and parking the car was the kiss of death. Betwen 2 wheels ruined and a ripping off the front bumper, it was about a $1500 bill that we opted not to claim on insurance.

My wife has driven my 855 twice in the last year and both times I have had to reconstruct the lip spoiler. I'm knocking on wood right now that the wheels are still intact.

Actually, my wife will probably be more careful driving the wagon since she knows how anal I am about that car. :P I don't think it's the wagon riding on 19s she's so negative about getting them. It's more about if I get the 19s and I hate it, she will never hear the end of me bitching about it. Better safe than sorry I guess (for her welfare and mine  )
