calgary850awd
A chip for either or just the 16t?
the underlørd
15G/16T/18T/19Tthey're all a bolt on... downpipes help. :)
jross
A chip for either or just the 16t?Both, if you want to make use of the added capabilities and suchnot. And pertaining to Kev's comment - downpipes always help (bigger is better, go 3" ) but you don't HAVE to change as long as your replacement has the same flange type as yours (eg, 13g should be straight flange, so later 15gs and most 16T/18T/19Ts should work). Gioseppe
that car is worth moding!15/16/18/19 have same oil return/feed lines too as i am told.....a new turbo in a 5 spd awd would make for a quick car.
JHEIII874T5M
OK... your 1997 850 Turbo has a "straight outlet" turbo. The turbocharger that will bolt on directly from it are a "straight-outlet" 15G out of a 1996 or 1997 850 Turbo or a "straight-outlet" 16T out of a 1998 S70 T5. Also, if you can find a "straight-outlet" 18T, that will also work. The 19T and 99+ 16T turbochargers come with an "angled" outlet, which would require to change your downpipe. Hilton
I'm looking to do the same thing. I was outbid on a 15G at the last minute a couple of days ago. It eventually went for $150ish. The one I was outbid on before that one sold for $108.

Which is why it's not easy to find over here.

thelostartof
any ANY ANY 15g/16t/18t/19t will work ... all you need to do is keep your turbine housing(which is already a flat/straight 2 7/8" outlet) and use the center and compressor ...so IF you were to find a conical 15g you could use the 15g and just sell the turbine housing which comes off in about 2 mins w/ one 10mm nutyou do NOT have to change downpipes unless you want to go to the angled outlet (3"). otherwise any TD04HL turbo you find off a FWD volvo will bolt right up no matter what flanged turbine housing it came w/so say you wanted to get eric's 19t .... you could, just swap over the center/compressor and leave your turbine housing there and sell the angled outlet housing ... it really is as easy as that to swap these TD04's
