Edawg Posted December 17, 2005 Report Share Posted December 17, 2005 My 2002 S60 2.4T has is due for a transmission service and the dealer quoted me $400 dollars, due to the special O.E. Volvo fluid that is recommended, evidently it's expensive. I was told my car takes ATF 4 from another source...Is this true? What are my options as far as ATF fluids? Would Mobil 1 ATF work? Fisher Posted December 17, 2005 Report Share Posted December 17, 2005 Call up your Mobil distributor and ask for Mobil 3309. Mobil 3309 is the equivalent product for Volvo's 1161540- 8. Mobil 1 will not work. Amsoil is a synthetic choice. Somebody also said Valvoline Maxlife ATF would work, don't know for sure.I believe you can even buy a case of the Mobil 3309 and take it to the dealer for use in the service.
