bmwtinut
I was changing the tires on my new to me '00 V70R and thought I would check the front engine mount while I had the wheel off and noticed that there was alot of oil on the lower part of the subframe and engine. What should I be looking for? When I bought the car back in August the engine was very clean and all it ran great. I did look at the front of the engine and didn't see anything then. I took a quick look at it and can't seem to see a point of origin. Anyone have any suggestions?ThanksTodd
the underlørd
get it all cleaned up, then put a piece of carboard under where you think the leak is coming from... then you should be able to pinpoint the leak. let's hope it's not a RMS/
bmwtinut
What do you mean by RMS, rear main seal? I am thinking that it might be the crank seal.
Kibim
You need to clean it all up 'n see, but turbo-seals are fairly common to leak. It's an easy/cheap fix too.
bmwtinut
Well I don't think it is the turbo seals. I had the drain seal leaking on my AWD and the leak was not like this. This is only at the front of the engine. I did notice that this morning there were a couple of drops on the driveway. It will be going in to the dealer on Tuesday to be looked at. mikeys
Maybe the flame trap/oil trap??? On my S80 it would pour oil out every so often out of the oil trap seal. I had it the oil trap and seal replaced and bye bye leak. Good luck!
MrWinkey
If it was the RF tire are you sure you don't have a power steering leak? ;)
