thanks for the info in a the drive...Guess who'll be getting up tomorrow at 5:00 am, and not to open up presents. :)

while looking for the vaccuum leak, can i use ether to spray and help find the leak?

That is one way to do it. Being somewhat risk averse (when it comes to spraying a highly volatile and flammable solvent on my car), I would advise against that, and suggest looking for obvious leaks as suggested by Winkey. Or make sure to have a fire extinguisher around.

I decided against it after the post... :)

Just dropped the car off at the dealer.

The scanner said P1171 just before I left to drop it off.

Now I wait for the return call, hoping it is not anyhing major.

$105.00 for diagnosis

$318.00 for 45,000 mile service

$450.00 and they do not know whats wrong yet

Uodate:

Just got a call from Georgetown Volvo, here in NY, where the car went for the mysterious CEL...among other codes there was a ECM 261A, and there were a bunch of other codes that were stored in there.

So they told me that the techs diagnosed it as a faulty MAF sensor, and they will clear all of the stored codes.

Well ok..since no one else will chime in.....your 1171 is possibly a vacuum leak look at the rubber elbow on the pass. side of the intake..the 1174 is also related to that as well....the 0422 is an evap code I believe and I think it's for the valve on the rad shroud but not sure just going off of memory. I highly doubt ANY of those codes are related to an 0/2 sensor...the 1171 and1174 are fuel trim codes and if you have no vacuum leaks you may possibly need and AMM but without reading values I cannot say? ;)

Man I feel like I should start charging $$$....ahheemm B)
