leurven Posted December 23, 2005 Report Share Posted December 23, 2005 During full boost and during a shift the engine pegs out momentarily as if the tranny can't grab the gear quick enough. I understand that even with the speedtuning chip the ETM is designed to let back on the throttle during a shift so as to save wear on the tranny. I didn't expect the engine to start to peg out during the shift. Also, just after the shift the engine accelerates and then loses power, dropping in RPMs slightly, and then continues pulling as it should. Do you think that maybe the tranny is starting to go or is it perhaps a collapsing turbo line or something like that? Any help would be much appreciated. The car was tracked by the previous owner so I wouldn't be surprised if the tranny has had a little beating on in the past.The tranny is a 5sp auto (it is a front wheel drive tranny I was told by my mechanic - only one drive shaft). Anyone done a 5sp or 6sp manual conversion on this particular car? I would be interested to know who has done it and how easy/difficult it was what with changing the computer and everything.
