Planning on black... had my paint brush out today :monkey:

I'm in the throws of what to do regarding the color. Stay stock and just touch out here and there or for fresh re-paint. I think I'll just clean it up for the summer... next winter send her in for a fresh paint job.

I like red.

Also, pick up a can of black Duplicolor bumper paint. I used it on my trim, and it looked AMAZING, and didn't fade, chip or anything. came out looking stock, and maintained the texture of the trim too.

I'll add that to my list as well ;)

See, to me they look like primered stockers... at least in the pics.

Are they very different?

Take a close look at both pictures. The stock Volvo sideskirts are 3”… these are 5”… so it gives the appearance (once I get an engine in there) of an additional 2” drop. Mostly ground effects. Yes – subtle and yet…non-ricey.

Very nice! Looks like there is a track 850 that's faster than Flo's after all...though it looks like it could use some more weight red!

..only over my dead body. ;)

i might get hold of an 2004 R engine, how difficults the swap? --> short answer here, long answer i will open a new thread.

Fitment isnt an issue, obviously. But its not completely straight forward as it is built for ME 7 and the wires dont add up, and ME 4.4 cant control the variable cam timing.

If I were you Florian I would save myself the trouble of an engine swap...just get beefier rods in your engine and a bigger turbo...at least a bigger turbine for all your high rev Ring ridin'

Scott,

I notice we are sort of neighbors. I would love to see your car. It sounds like you might be finished in time to bring it to Thunderhill on May 22?

I would be very interested in an article on the car for Rolling Magazine. Let me know if this is of interest to you. Lee@vcoa.org

Oh crap... like I don't have enough pressure in my life at the moment :lol::lol:

We are neighbors at that! If you come look at me car... all you see is a shell and pretty much a bunch o' parts in my garage. However, my target is to make that Davis meet on that weekend... at least that is what I told everyone today at the Burgerball (AKA - Aptos Snowball).

PM me back when we get closer to that date and we can work something out. I still have a lot of work to get done!!!

No - haven't been goofin' off. Went to the Burger Ball yesterday and it was great to meet up with everyone again. Thanks to Pat and his folks for being such great hosts!

Received in my new soon-to-be applied UR underdrive pulley. Everything went off last weekend to start getting machined. I should have the SPM rods and Venolia pistons in hand on Tuesday. Then - we're pretty much set for the engine build.

I took Pras' advice and started pulling all the external molding and using Black Duplicolor bumper coating. I actually disassembled the side mirror so that I could get to the grey plastic parts only. I will post pics of the finished product. But I want to show everyone who keeps their ride nice and clean, what is look like under that side molding. For those clean freaks out there... it only takes about 2 minutes to take them off to clean underneath.

Last week I got the passenger side door lined with a double layer of FatMat. Door is back together and I will apply one layer of the panel and one layer of SecondSkin's Overkill matting on the inside of the door cover. That should quiet things down quite a bit.

Today I started focussing on the engine bay, etc. lying in wait for the engine. I noticed a bit of dirt behind the bumper so I had to CLEAN it! Honestly though, I needed to get the grey bumper cover off to apply black Duplicolor. I also need to install the new R bumper but needs to get painted first. Also got the radiator/intercooler assembly out as well as that front black piece. This will allow me to clean everything and make working in the engine bay a lot easier.

CJ was gracious enough to lend me a "ventilated" block so that I can mount the M66 onto and figure out the shifter cables, rear mount, etc. Time to get started on that.

Final pic for Pras - what makes you think I'm a VS For Sale forum slut???

Didn't mean to put more pressure on you! I sure know what it is like to have a million pieces, two parts cars and a deadline. It sucks. It is supposed to be fun....

Please do come to Davis, even if the car isn't ready. it would be great to meet you. And there is always next year at Thunderhill. We have been doing it since 1999, and we are now up to twice per year.. . I don't see us quitting any time soon. Some of us are starting to learn the track!

Which one of those is mine, though? I think it might be that black chrome looking one in the back right. let me know the tracking number on that one. I think Fedex overnight should do the trick. ;)
