That is why it is at ATP at this moment. We may swap housings and turbine but he may do something custom. We'll also use their Ultimate Wastegate (internal) and thay too might have some custom tooling. What you are looking at is not the finished product.

Scott C.

The ATP people are great, we had a 90 VW Corrado G60 we bought worked on a little and had to sell before we ended up under the jail, sold to a friend who tore up the supercharger belt going about 135 mph which inturn cracked one of the pistons but didn't amazingly throw super charger shrapnel through the intake. So since it had to be torn down he decided to convert to a turbo and we got the kit from ATP. That was about 3 years ago and he is still enjoying the ride.

It is totally awesome that you are doing this, I can't wait for my husband to read this thread. I have been itching for a 6 speed R but they are a bit out of my budget oh well, can't wait to see how this turns out for you. Good luck!

I'm not shure how good it would be for you to install a lightweight flywheel on your car... this is how i see it:

First off all the changing to a lightweight flywheel will not help in smoothness compared to the stocker as long as you get it balanced, if it isen't already.

Second off all, a lightwheight flywheel makes the car rev happy in the sens it's easyer to accelerate the engine under 0 load, but it's also harder to keep it up in the revs if you let off the gas i.e when shifting (not considering you fullthrotle shift alot) because of basic inertia principals.

Now my fear is that while shifting, in an effort not to let the revs go down to much, past the friction point of the upcoming gear, you'd have to shift like a maniac, and that would be really hard an OEM tranny that is already getting a severe beating from a 500+ WHP motor...

I say this because one of my friends had put a lightweight flywheel on an H22 swaped prelude, and when he shifted in a race situation, if he wasen't quick enough, trying to save his tranny from to much abuse, he would get out of the VTEC... loll VTEC sucks!loll

I drove a 77 rabbit back in the 80's, my dad was a mechanic and raced cars, he lightened the flywheel and put a deisel trans in it for the 5 speed the regular trans was only a 4 speed, yeah you have to shift fast but we put many many hard driven miles on that car and never had a problem with the trans or the clutch. I used to be able to take an 86 5.0 mustand through 1st and 2nd gear at a stop light with my 4 cylinder rabbit. The only think my dad did was the flywheel and he took a venturi out of the throttle body and a tri-y eshaust manifold. Given that I would say the flywheel should be awesome for you, just put in a short shift kit.

Ok - I'm back on this thing 'cause I'm tired of hearin' Pras' razzin' me!!!

Well - this morning started early with a bit of jetlag. First thing I did was pull the rear bumper and the interior of the trunk. I completed the Walbro 255 retrofit with no problems thanks to a sweet deal from the UNDERLORD. I also got the trunk lid and part of the trunk lined with sound deadening material :D

Ok - next was to finished painting black the last piece of trim which was the rear bumper. Unfortunately it is one big piece so it requires masking off very carefully. Great day for painting!!! Here are progress pics:

And the finished product:

Some other things I got done but was not worth taking pictures was getting the S60R rear mount installed and the bracket onto the M66. Next step is to rebolt that M66 up to the loaner block and drop it in the engine bay again. This SHOULD solve the rear mount problem. Once in there, I can work the shifter cable assembly appropriately. There is going to be some cut and weld action for that. Basically use the 850 shifter and cables but weld to the ends of the cables at the correctly adjusted length the S60R/M66 clips. Yes - Volvo used different sized clips!!! :monkey: This should solve the shifter cable challenge.

Tomorrow is another day.

PS - GO SHARKS!!!
