douchepan's in San Diego and he didn't even call.

This Douchepan was on a kids hockey tourney adventure from hell. Spent my weekend with 20 screaming 8 year olds, getting drunk every night with the parents and having a hang over every morning :monkey: Glad to say that my son's team placed third out of twelve teams from So Cal, Nor Cal, and Arizona. He had two goals and two assists! I'm leaving for Montreal tomorrow morning and will be back Saturday night. Following weekend, we are in sunny Fresno for another hockey tourney.

Sorry to keep you guys hanging. Just I have some things at work that are creating 16-18 hour days for the past couple months. I have been working it piece meal when I can.

So as you know, I took that damn dashboard out again. I hate that damn dashboard. I almost gave up on that damn dashboard. The tabs broke again and the upper trim near the windshield is cracked and breaking (on that damn dashboard). I actually have a good dashboard from a '98 S70. Much better construction and material than my damn '97 850 dashboard. Unfortunately, it would need to be heavily modified to fit the good S70 dash in place of my damn 850 dash. There will be a time and place when I replace the entire damn dashboard. 'nuff said.

Last night I wrestled that damn dashboard back in. As mentioned, there were a few things I modified in the wires and cables inside that damn dash. I also mounted my Alpine Ipod interface box in a perfect location.

Second, I installed the ashtray gauge pod custom made by Owned. Quality product there and sets right under my other three gauges.

I got the "A" gauge pod all sorted out. Hey - my oil pressure is already 44 pounds!!!

Here is where we stand. Everything is 95% wired up. Interior is pretty much done (again). Sorry to bore you guys will lame stuff like this. I promise there will be some exciting pics coming shortly.

So close. It's starting to look like a car again, when is the estimated time of firing this thing off?

Ugh... I knew someone was going to ask that question. Let's see.... 6 weeks to Davis. I just got off the phone with the machine shop. I should re-iterate that this Volvo head will probably be the most advanced head in North America. Just the machining work is running over 5 figures - that is just labor. So, the head work is done. They are doing the final touch up and pretty work. They are cutting the custom valves as I write this. We may need a different set of springs, but those can be had in a couple days if needed. So... where does all this lead? We will target next weekend for taking receipt of said head and depending on Doug's schedule, we may be able to complete the top end build. Then its a matter of all the bolt-ons etc.

We will go with an R clutch through the break-in period (then go to a better clutch and possibly an LSD install). I can fire this up with stock ECU, injectors and even a stock IC if needed. The car is out of registration and requires SMOG test... and that may be the limiting factor in making Davis in 6 weeks. Exhaust may also be another issue. I "may" modify my existing DP with a V-band flange and then bolt, glue, clamp the exhaust back together. That gets it running to make smog and get it up to CJs for a custom exhaust. I also need to send the intake manifold to the polishing shop. Can't show up with all sorts of bling in the engine bay and an ugly intake.

So - I would love to make Davis in 6 weeks. But to do so, I may have the following:

- Stock ECU

- Stock Injectors

- Stock IC

- Less than pretty DP and exhaust system.

But... the way things are going, I could receive a phone call in the next 10 minutes telling me I need to be in Singapore on Monday morning. Thats the mode I'd running in right now. Something like that pops up, I won't make Davis with the 850. Oh well, the S60R is a good second best!

Scott. Things are looking beautiful. I see the 5 spd gear shifter...is the reverse going to be your 6th? :P

Actually the shifter is free floating - not gated. So, even though the know says "5", its all "6" with reverse on the side. I will have to pilfer a shifter knob that says "6" or just go with a Momo or something.

I had another go at it today. Got that damn dash 95% complete, same with the center console, drivers seat back in, carpet, damn dash pad, etc. I also got my DSL 5.25" compos installed in the front doors. I have a pair of Infinity compos going in the rear doors tomorrow, already have the Polk 5X7s in the rear. Sounds great so far.

Ok - pics!

I also worked on the location of the oil coolers, etc. Going to run dual inline oil coolers.

More tomorrow.
