At last. Its been a long time in the waiting... but worth the wait.

Flow bench test resulted in 950 CFM at 24 PSI at .400 lift on both intake and exhaust side. These flow numbers have us rethinking a few things like... ECU/ECM, injectors, clutch, trans and tires! It is very conceivable that with 110 octane at 2 bar we would see 600-650HP even though the GT35R is rated to 600HP

So, here are the pics. Doug is working on the assy right now with more pics to follow.

First, looking down the intake. Lotta room in there and notice how we cut back the valve guides

Port matched the intake:

The exhaust ports. Enough room to throw a party in there!

S60R Exhaust manifold port matched and bored.

DSC00987.jpg

Exhaust manifold collector. Gonna be a lotta flow here.

DSC00985.jpg

Completely reconstructed domes and polished. Looking down the intake.

Another view with the valves set in. We did go to heavier valves springs as well.

Finally, a custom cam setup. Top cam is the custom, bottom cam is an NA cam. Notice we re-ground the bottom side lobe and will compensate with lash caps to obtain .400 lift.

Stay tuned for more great photos!

Looking good Scott! I can't wait to see this beast on the road. Do you have a ball park estimate on the motor, internals and machine work cost? Just curious as I am starting to think in that direction, although much less HP than you are shooting for.

I cringe when I think about adding it up! Maybe toward the end of the project I will make a list and post it. I'm sure to catch flames from the dweebs saying what a waste of money, etc. etc.

Let's discuss at Davis :D

Well I am sure people already snicker at your excessive love for your volvos. But in the end F em all and do what makes you happy. I am sure the price list would be staggering to you as well. I mean all that hard earned money, that you could have done something usefull with like, invest? or booz and hookers? or well I guess its all better spent on a volvos on second thought. Glad to hear that you will make it to Davis, see you there!

Got back home today and pulled CJ's loaner block out. I had forgotten that I placed the axles into the transmission, thus requiring me to jack the car up, remove the wheels, drop the control arm, remove axle, replace control arm, replace wheels and drop again. PITA! Anyway, while I was at it, I drained the brake fluid and installed the stainless steel lines on the front. Will try to get the rears done tomorrow. I also hooked up the master clutch cylinder to the brake fluid reservoir.

Once finished, I gave it its first wash in over one year. She's basically ready for the new engine and trans.

104K on the original engine!

Brake setup will definitely be needed at some point in time... but not until we start cranking up the numbers on this puppy.

Just got back (again) from Doug's where the top end assy is already starting to take place. Here is an update:

The engine with head assy already bolted down:

Please note that the exhaust manifold and turbo exhaust housing are going out for ceramic coating:

The custom cams and GT35R lying in wait:

More to come very soon!
