Challenges abound.

Bring that yesterday I finally got the trans mounted to the engine, complete with turbo assy, this morning was the first time I tried to fit the rear mount bracket. Guess what... the turbo housing hit the bracket. So, after careful consideration I had to start cutting.

I'm not dropping the engine in today. Instead, I am concerned about the clearance for water line plumbing (red circle on the left) and the gap/space for the 4" silicon hose and clamp over between the turbo housing and the rear mount bracket. Will pick up all the parts tomorrow at ATP and get everything done outside the car before dropping in.

Finally, I will bolt the rear mount itself into the bracket so that I can get to that bolt while its out of the car. Then I just have to bolt the mount from under the car once the engine is dropped in.

This damn mount is probably the most work of the project thus far!

is that a custom mount welded onto the trans? on mine, we just took the cover off of the mount on the rear so that the turbo wouldn't hit it or rub on it. the mount is still bolted down, just without that black cover....I don't see that black cover on yours, so I'm assuming the trans you have is a different mounting thing, or you've somehow customized it.

my turbine housing cleared, hosing and clamps cleared, downpipe cleared, and the oil/water cleared without any mods to the stock engine/mounting stuff and heater hoses.

Pras - remember this is an M66 and the mount is an entirely different animal. CJ and I frankensteined an S60R mount into the right angle and pitch to mate the M66 to the 850 mount. Took quite a few tries to get it right.

Grabs bandaids!

Take note kiddies... never take a year and a half to put something back together. My memory sucks!

Myself and my co driver have put in 2.5 years into ours and the engine is out of the engine bay again!

You are doing good and your engine and nice V band flange are looking good

Best of luck I have been following your project for a long time

This thread has more custom fab work than an episode of American Chopper B)

Ok guys... Just a lot of parts pick up today and a lot of beer down the hatch. Picked up the finished polished intake and throttle body today. The inlet on that TB is close to 75mm and intake is port matched to boot. Pure sex when it all gets together.

Unfortunately, I'm leaving the country again tomorrow AM. Don't know when I'll be back but... cheers.
