ok so i started puttin in the EST air intake system (with heat sheild) and immediately ran into problems

they dont seem to account for (or atleast i may be missing things...to restate i am a n00b engine wise but follow instructions and catch on well) a few things

there his a hose coming from the front of the turbo seen here:

TURBO001.jpg

it doesnt say what to do with that OR where it goes to, i did read the instructions all the way through

also, i loosened the clamp as instructed right where the arrows are pointing

TURBO003.jpg

TURBO002.jpg

it will not come off

what am i supposed to do about the object in the red square?

im sorry that i am such a n00b and if anyone has installed this please let me know what the Air Mass Meter is (is that the thing in the red box? and if so how to remove it?)

the step i am on which is before removing the upper portion of the air box says

"2. Remove the Air Mass Meter by loosening the hose clamp that attach the Air Mass Meter the to plastic tube."

remember that i already loosened the clamp shown in pictures 2+3 by the red arrows and that it is very loose but i cannot pull the 2 pieces apart

thanks guys, im sure ill have more questions

That hose... is what goes to the air pump. Just letting you know the turbo aint under that box... just for information sake.

Take that hose off... that breather filter (the little filter) goes on that hose.

As for the MAF... you need to take the t25 or t20 torx screws off of the box itself.

ok, so where do i mount the minature air filter?

does it go in the large hole in the heat shield that isnt being used for the cone filter?

thank you so much

well you can do one of two things... you can mount it in that hole with the filter

or just put it on the hose and put the hose wherever

Greg cut his hose down so it sits more by the headlight now, and it just has the filter on it.

You mount the mini-filter on the end of that smaller rubber tube :)

ok so i have the heat shield in place but didnt secure it yet

i am completely baffled by the use of the bracket

i understand its supposed to hook up to the air regulator? but what is the air regulator and where?!

and in which direction does the bracket go?

my car is a 98 and it says you need to hook the air regulator to the bracket

Post pictures of how far you are, then we can talk you through it.

I believe the Air Regulator is the MAF, and it bolts onto the heatshield one way. I found it kinda hard to attach the other piece of the firewall to the fender using the hardware, but I eventually got it :)

Anyways, just show us with pics where you are.

Looks like you are almost there. The MAF is the sensor where that wire goes into and then the filiter plugs in on to the end of that. For the looks of it all you have to do it put the filiter on.

As for the hose that goes to the air pump. Look at the far left of the pic. I just cut the pipe down and put this cheapo filter over it. Works until I can find something better.
