My S70 And Harsh Weather Conditions

What's up guys, although this may sound kinda out of the ordinary, just hear me out. Right now I live in beautiful sunny Southern CA, (Orange County) to be exact. I'm planning on moving to Boston MA, due to a recent job offer, my sister also lives there.

I'm very meticulous in keeping my 98 S70 which I have owned since new in the best possible condition aesthetically and mechanically. For the year and mileage (220,000) of my Volvo it still looks brand new and drives great. I'm debating whether or not I should expose my precious S70 to the everyday harsh snow and cold etc. I know Volvo's are durable and made in Sweden where similar conditions are a commonplace, but is my vehicle going to get destroyed, battered and beaten. I noticed a lot of you guys have winter wheels. Would I need a spare set in order to not damage my Volans? Will my vehicle be more prone to developing rust in certain areas? Know this is kinda odd but I'm sure some of you have experience with this. Please comment, especially if you live in the New England region. Thanks Ruftek.

You will need a set of winter tires (All seasons are crap) so the smartest thing is to get a set of wheels too.

Salt eats rust protection and can in some cases cause damage to the clear coat of some aluminium wheels, so either get a set of steelies or some other wheels that you don't really care for.

I wouldn't worry too much for rust, I've never seen a rusty x70 and we have salt from November to April with lots of cars never washed througout the whole winter.
