Asinine
Ok, so i picked up a Roady XT (Delphi's XM receiver) for $4.36 yesterday - at that price, i couldn't pass it up.Now, is there currently a way to control the XM programming through the Head Unit, or am i stuck with the gadget, and will i always have to have it attached to my cigarette lighter for power?Maybe i'll see if my best bizzle co-workers can hardwire an intsall that won't suck! So, on the topic of XM - if you can answer my question that'd be awesome, if you can't - post your Sat. Radio set up pics!!
Asinine
Am I to believe that none of you have a Sat. radio install you're proud of?
miniman342
I have the original roady in my 744, and I still have to have the actual roady unit. the roady thing has its own user number, and to use an XM ready HU, you'll need just an XM tuner. like this onehope that helps
Asinine
I was under the impression that no matter what you need the 'unit'. Even with a satellite ready HU it won't change stations.Man, i wish i had ANY confidence in the guys i work with at best buy!?
andrew_the_fox
i installed mine in the front armrest. I put the little xm receiver on the back of the trunk towards the windshield , and appropriately zip tied the wire so it's out of the way inside the trunk, then continued the wire under the back seats, under the carpet and pulled it up into the front armrest. It came pretty nice, and no one knows it's there. so it won't get stolen. I will post pics tomorrow, i'd go do it now but its 39 degrees and pouring rain. ;)

AnthonyR
It's sunday, it's never as busy here on sunday. No, there is no way to control the XM thru the factory head. You can get a line in adapter (I'd highly recommend for SQ reasons) or you can get an fm modulator. And if you tap onto either the radio's power wires or the cigeratte lighters wiring, you won't have to loose the cig lighter for other things.
