rodrigo
When I installed the boost gauge in the car, there was a small, un-noticeable ring of silver from the side of the boost gauge not being able to be completely pressed into the hole...as in not completely flush. I found it was from the brass threaded sleve onto which you thread the coupling to have the plastic vac line going into the gauge. Is there any way to make that sleve shorter? It is threaded, so if I cut it, I may mess up the threads and I don't wanna deal with that. I also do not want to start dissassembling the gauge for no reason. This is for a VDO gauge. Jaxx
do what you did last time with the 850?i dunno, i'd say press harder, i have that around the top, i'm not really worried about it all that much.are both sides tightened down well? rodrigo
in the 85I just pressed it in as much as it would go. I did not use the bracket, because the plastic on the cup seems kinda flimsy, so I kept sanding the hole and test fitting and eventually got a really tight fit with it just in there...and no vibration at all.It just bugs me that the gauge is not in all the way. Jaxx
voce e louco.lol sorry, but a little bit of the gauge is showing?i'm telling you, no one will notice :)
rodrigo
yeah, but i know its there and it irritates me!I want it all the way in the cup!!!
Jaxx
you could try cutting the far thread, so it doesn't rub/touch the back of the pod...
rodrigo
Well...here's what I'm thinking. Get a nut and tighten it down on the threaded brass pipe as far as I can. Cut the tip of the brass pipe, then back out the nut to correct the threads...since its brass, it should be easy to align them with just the nut, and not a die.But now I have other issues...I just mounted the pod on the XC and the interios color is not the same as the color I used in the 850....so its on there now, but will get repainted on Wednesday with the matching interior color of the XC plactic.Yes, I am aware I have problems....thank you! Mesoam
here's my thoughtsthe hard vac line is a large part of the problem because you can't bend it too much without creasing itif you are talking about trimming the threads that seals the hard line to the gauge, that is a judgement call on your part if you are talking about the 2 brass threaded rods that come off some gauges just dremel them off, there isn't any air going through there
Jaxx
yep, those rods for the nuts and the little bracket to go on.
rodrigo
No, no...I am talking about the yellow colored threaded post that comes out the back of the gauge to accept the plastic vac line. I realize that the thread diameter gets increases as you get to the base of the post (closer to the backside of the gauge) and that helps to seal (even though I still use a little teflon tape). it is kind of hard to explain....there is the post, then the adaptor, then the cap with the hole. well, I put on the adaptor and went down as far as I could (pretty resistant to turning)...fine. then I went to put on the cap where the hose comes out of...fine. then I went to put it in the gauge the part where the hose comes out of was srticking out too much and preventing the gauge to sit perfectly flush in the hole of the Pod.You guys know what I mean?? Mesoam
i understand now....that is the peice that i said "your call"the one on my gauge can def be trimmed a bit and just uses a compression fitting (feurrel) to seal the lineyou could also consider making a small trim ring out of plasticif you are a perfectionist i could easily see how something like that could bother you
