Avic-n1 Help

So, awhile ago my AVIC-N1 started acting oddly (buttons sometimes not working, screen somtimes not coming on) and eventually, both the buttons and the screen died. What was odd is that the touch function still worked and I could still play music and everything using the remote. So I bit the bullet yesterday and tore into to see if I could find the problem. Well, it didn't take long for me to find this:

Yeah, it sucks. The tear wasn't that wide at first, but it was torn so it did need replacement. Here's the problem I'm having. I have a resource to order obscure parts such as this that you can't get direct from the retailer as a consumer. The only thing I need is the part number for this ribbon cable, and I cannot for the life of me find it. I found a ton of ribbon cables for the AVIC-N1, but none with a proper description that tells me what it is. I'm figuring that a Pioneer Authorized Service Company has access to this information, but I don't know any of them. If anyone out there has any resources as far as getting this part number, please, go to any lengths possible to get it. This would save me a ton of money, and seeing as I have only $120 in the bank and owe much, much more than that to my parents, it would stop me from going even further into debt.

Glad you were able to find the problem yourself and save a ton of cash!

How has the N1 been working out for you? Are the directions good and everything?

I'm thinking about getting an N2, but can't decide if i should go for an Alpine unit and get the NAV separate.

N1 is going great except for this little problem. I'm thinking about upgrading to the N2 (just need the DVDs), but it locks out watching movies while driving and using navi controls while driving. It's not really the movies I care about (I hardly use that part), but I would miss not being able to screw with the navi.

I'm not positive, but i think Bing posted a way to get around that lockout, i could be wrong though.

That was only for the new version that you buy as the N2. I bought mine as an N1 and can upgrade it to an N2, but it's missing the part needed in order to use that bypass method.

hey, i am actually wondering about that my self. since cali has no many new roads that my version 1 disc is sufferin

since you have your unit out, check to see if it has the same little thing yo can mod as on the n2? let me know :) if it has it, then all logic would suggest that by doing the same on the n1, you can make it work while driving.

No, it's not the same on the bottom. There's a thread with detailed pictures over at the12volt.com.
