740 Front Speakers

I am in the market to fix my front speakers on my '92 740 Turbo Wagon. The front left dash speaker is crapping out (the cone is damaged, so it buzzes). I earlier tried to simply disconnect the dash speakers and install some speakers in the front doors (there are holes there, but no 'ring' to drill the speakers into) but the wires there are dead.

So I basically just want to replace/upgrade the dash speakers. The only problem is that they (at least, the mounting for them) seems to be a Volvo-only make. Is there a way around this, or should I just attempt to get some new factory dash speakers via Volvo?

Note: I'm not looking for a serious upgrade in sound. I have an aftermarket head unit that does just fine. I merely want to be able to listen to my music at louder volumes whereas my front-left dash speaker merely craps out at.

Edit: Has anyone attempted to fit aftermarket speakers in the volvo-specific dash mount? Crutchfield seems to think it can be done...

i have replaced spekars on a 90 740 or was it 92, 5.25s will fit :) they will fit a little better with an adapter ring, but its not neccessary

but, If I recall Correctly, if the 92s are the same as the older 740s, the speaker depth isn't that much. so be careful of that
