Been searching the forum for 'Big Reds' caliper info as nobody makes a bracket for the 996TT caliper, and then i came across a post from Johann. I shall let the picture do the talking:-

Never installed these because the Pegs needed spacers on an S70.. 850 is a tight fit for stock Pegs, S70 could have done OK with the pacers but all in all we didn't like the setup.

De monoblock is higher and wider compared to a 993TT caliper.

So as long as I have no intention of lowering the car, the car being a '97 V70, then it would be ok. What was your concern with the setup Johann, the fact that you had to use spacers?

The spacers, the amount of thread which can be used in the brackets to mount the caliper and the fact that it is an 18" only solution. We test fitted Titans but that was a no go.

I need to add that I have never been a fan of the EST Brembo solution when looking at the bolts used and the fact that it had a 10 mm spacer build in. The spacers made Titan rims look hidious on an 850 IMO and the bolts are plain weak. They did the job but still.. First thing I did was the remove the 10 mm spacers thickness from the rotor hats.

So the 993TT 'Big Reds' are indeed the best porsche setup to go for with ease of fitting and cost!?!

Johann, you use the 993TT calipers?

There are a few of us running the 993tt calipers. They barely give you enough clearance for inside wheel weights on 17" wheels, so 996 would definately be an 18+ setup.

Any of you 993TT users use Goodridge stainless steel brake lines???

The Goodridge SVV0800-4C are used for the 302mm carrier upgrade, would i be ok using these for the 993TT caliper and would they fit straight on without modification?

You can use your stock lines if you want. I don't know about the Goodridge lines, but if they will connect up with your stock calipers, they will work fine.

by the way, what wheels are you going to be using?

Excellent, all i needed to know :)

Havent decieded for definate yet, but most likely 17" or 18" Pegs if i can find a set here in the UK at the price i like.

Ive been doing a little research on the net and have found out that the 993TT calipers (big reds) are also used on the 993RS, 993 C4S, 964T 3.6litre and the 928GTS. Can anyone confirm this to be the case???

Well, if you can get pegs, you won't need spacers. Most other stock wheels require some spacer to clear the calipers. For my Volans, I am running 15mm spacers, and I have 0.6mm clearance to the wheel.

Yep, im aware of the spacing issue and the need for spacers on every 17" bar pegs. I dont really like the thought of using spacers so i will most likely hold out for some fake Pegs as they are of course cheaper when they come up next on ebay or the UK forums. Sadly, even though Pegs are relatively cheap over with you in the US compared to us in the UK, the postage and duty costs would be far too much :(

I have had confirmation from an US company Rennsport Systems who deal with performance porsches that the Big Reds did indeed also feature on the 928GTS, 964T 3.6, 993C4S, 993RS, 993RSCS (same as 993RS), and 993RSR.

looks like the ones on my 996 carrera only painted red. The ceramics calipers are yellow. and the Carrera S calipers are red. but those look regular (by p-car standard) to me.

Johann -

Isn't the spacing there for clearance purposes? How can 10mm spacing make it look bad when people add 10, 12, 15, etc mm spacers on their car all day long? Or did you already have spacers and the 10mms just added MORE spacing?
