Xm Satellite Antenna Install

Guys,

I just got a new XM Satellite radio, figured I would take a shot at installing the Antenna myself instead of shelling out $70 for installation. Anyone have some step by steps to do this? Anyone have advice on what not to do etc...? My main concern is where to run the wiring from the antenna to the XM unit.

Thanks

It's TOTALLY easy to do it!

I have a wagon, so installed it on the front dash, but apparently it's not too hard to run it back from the rear deck either.

Just get the antenna where you want then with the aid of one of those small screwdrivers start bringing it back to the front of the car.

Check out the various other XM or Sirius threads in the first couple pages of A/V and you'll get the idea!

mounting them in the center of the roof above the windshield is very easy to do. Just stick the antenna in the middle and use a small scrwedriver to pry up the windshield seal. once you get a small bit of cable in the you can run it all the way around the windshield until you hit the door jam. Once in the door jam, pull the weatherstripping upp around the doorjam and feed the cable through. only downside is when the door is open there is maybe 1" of visible wire, but careul mavunvering of it makes it almost unnoticable

That would be an outside install wouldn't it?

I'm not comfortable with mine outside, personally!?

ehh, differnt strokes fer differnt folks :P I only install antennas inside the car if the windshield seal is broken or too small to put a wire underneath. Can run into reception problems occasionally with the antennas inside the car.
